Metrolinx board of directors meets, December 3



The Metrolinx board of directors is holding its next meeting this Thursday, December 3.

As usual, the agenda for the meeting contains both public and confidential items. The board will discuss the confidential items in a private session that starts at 8 a.m. The board then meets in public to discuss the rest of the items on the agenda at 9:45 a.m. At the end of the public session, the board again meets privately.

The meeting takes place in the Peter R. Smith Boardroom, Union Station, West Wing, 4th Floor, 97 Front Street West.

During its public session, the board will discuss, among other items on its agenda, reports updating it about various Metrolinx divisions, services and projects, including:

  • a proposal to raise GO Transit fares. You can read the staff report here. (.pdf)

    • staff are proposing an increase of about five per cent above current fares.

  • a review of GO Transit’s service changes and infrastructure improvements. You can view the staff presentation here. (.pdf)

    • the presentation offers a brief look ahead at 2016 activities, including:
  • new weekday, evening and weekend train service;
  • new train service to Gormley GO Station in Richmond Hill;
  • more weekday and weekend bus service throughout the region;
  • new park and ride lots in Pickering (Highway 407 and Brock Road) and Newmarket (Highway 404 and Davis Drive);
  • new service with the opening of the Winston Churchill and Renforth Transitway Stations;
  • new low-floor double-decker buses;
  • new station buildings in Burlington and Oshawa;
  • a new bus storage and maintenance facility in Hamilton;
  • a new Square One Bus Terminal building in Mississauga;
  • a new train layover facility in Kitchener; and
  • a fully complete West Harbour GO Station.

  • an update on the TTC’s rollout of PRESTO fare cards.

    • the TTC expects to have all streetcars PRESTO-ready by the end of 2015 and all buses by the end of 2016.

  • proposed names for stations along the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line. You can view the staff presentation here. (.pdf)
