TTC and Toronto Fire emergency training
at subway stations, exits, December 6 to 13

There may be smoke, but, hopefully, no fire at TTC subway stations and exits along the 1 Yonge - University line early mornings, starting Sunday, December 6.

The TTC and Toronto Fire Services are conducting emergency training sessions between 2 and 4 a.m.

During the training sessions, Toronto Fire and TTC staff will park vehicles at street level and use simulated smoke.

Training takes place:

  • Sunday, December 6 — Dundas Station;
  • Monday, December 7 — Church Avenue emergency exit (between Finch and North York Centre stations);
  • Tuesday, December 8 until Friday, December 11 — Lawrence Station; and
  • Sunday, December 13 — Dundas Station.

The training sessions are not open to the media or the public.

Subway service resumes the day after each training session at the usual time.

TTC and Fire personnel conducted similar exercises at Dundas Station early eight Sunday mornings, starting September 13.

They also conducted an emergency evacuation exercise from the Birchmount exit of the 2 Bloor - Danforth subway (between Kennedy and Warden stations) Sunday, June 14.
