Weekend events affect transit services,
December 4, 5, 6



Santa Claus is coming to town — or, at least, to 14 towns in the Greater Golden Horseshoe — this weekend.

He’s a busy man as parades welcome him to Burlington, the Courtice area of Clarington, the Elmira area of Woolwich Township, the Hespeler area of Cambridge, the Jackson’s Point area of Georgina, the Long Branch area of Toronto, the New Toronto area of Toronto, Peterborough, the Port Perry area of Scugog Township, the Sutton area of Georgina, the Stoney Creek area of Hamilton, Stouffville and Whitby affect transit services this weekend.

Other events — some seasonal, some not — disrupt transit services in the Bowmanville area of Clarington, Guelph, Kitchener and the Unionville area of Markham.

The Region of Durham and the Municipality of Clarington are closing

  • King Street East Bowmanville (Regional Highway 2) between Scugog and Ontario Streets

Friday evening to accommodate the Bowmanville Business Improvement Association’s annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony.

The event likely affects GO Transit service, although GO has not announced detour information.
