The Toronto Transit Commission meets Wednesday, December 16 at 1 p.m. in Committee Room #1, Second Floor, City Hall, 100 Queen Street West.
The commission is the TTC’s board of directors. It oversees matters of policy and planning, building, maintaining and operating the TTC system and expanding its services and facilities.
Commissioners include City of Toronto councillors and members of the public.
During the meeting, the commissioners will discuss, among other items, staff reports recommending that the TTC:
- Approve changes to the TTC fare policy resulting from converting to the PRESTO fare card system, including:
- single cash fare in 2017;
- proof-of-payment boarding across the system in 2017;
- “tapping on” with PRESTO cards when boarding buses and streetcars in 2017;
- “tapping on and off” with PRESTO cards at subway stations in 2017;
- daily “rewards” to the PRESTO accounts (or “e-purses”) of passengers making several trips in one day;
- weekly and monthly Metropasses using PRESTO in 2016;
- Metropass Discount Plan online with PRESTO in 2017; and
- peak and off-peak pricing as part of the 2018 budget process.
