TTC detours, December 19



Toronto Hydro crews are upgrading power cables on

  • Queen Street West between Lisgar Street and Dovercourt Road

Saturday morning and afternoon.

The TTC is detouring streetcars operating along this route, while work proceeds:

Shuttle buses replace the cars, likely operating between Sunnyside and Wolseley Loops.

501 Queen

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, December 19, eastbound cars operate along their regular route to The Queensway and Roncesvalles Avenue / King Street West, then detour:

eastward along King West; and then
northward along Shaw Street to Queen Street West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen West.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street West at Wilson Park Road, Dowling, Jameson and Dunn Avenues, across from Brock Avenue, at Dufferin Street, across from Gladstone Avenue, at Abell Street, Dovercourt Road, Lower Ossington Avenue and Shaw Street.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on King Street West across from Wilson Park Road, at Dowling, Jameson, Dunn and Spencer Avenues, Dufferin Street and Fraser and Atlantic Avenues, across from Sudbury Street and at Shaw Street and
  • on Shaw Street at Adelaide and Queen Streets West.

Shuttle buses replace the cars between Roncesvalles Avenue and Shaw Street.

Eastbound streetcar passengers may transfer to eastbound buses at The Queensway and King Street West / Roncesvalles Avenue.

Westbound cars reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street West at Ossington Avenue, Dovercourt Road, Beaconsfield and Gladstone Avenues, west of Dufferin Street, at Brock, O’Hara, Lansdowne, Sorauren, Triller and Roncesvalles Avenues.

Instead, westbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Shaw Street across from Adelaide Street West and at King Street West and
  • on King Street West at Sudbury Street, Joe Shuster Way, Dufferin Street, Spencer, Dunn, Jameson and Dowling Avenues, west of Wilson Park Road and at Queen Street West.

Shuttle buses replace the cars between Roncesvalles Avenue and Shaw Street.

Westbound streetcar passengers may transfer to westbound buses at stops on Queen Street West between Bathurst and Shaw Streets.

501 Queen shuttle buses

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, December 19, shuttle buses replace streetcars along the 501 Queen route between Roncesvalles Avenue and Shaw Street.

(The TTC has not confirmed the exact routing of buses at the western and eastern ends of their route. However, on previous occasions, when buses have operated on this section of Queen West, they’ve started and ended their trips in Sunnyside and Wolesely Loops.)

Eastbound buses likely start their trips in Sunnyside Loop, then proceed:

southward along Sunnyside Avenue;
eastward along The Queensway and Queen Street West;
northward along Bathurst Street; and then
eastward into Wolseley Loop,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on The Queensway at King Street West and
  • on Queen Street West at Wilson Park Road, Dowling, Jameson and Dunn Avenues, across from Brock Avenue, at Dufferin Street, across from Gladstone Avenue, at Abell Street, Dovercourt Road, Lower Ossington Avenue, Shaw Street, Strachan Avenue, Niagara, Tecumseth and Bathurst Streets.

Eastbound bus passengers may transfer to eastbound streetcars at stops on Queen Street West between Shaw and Bathurst Streets.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound routing.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Bathurst Street at Queen Street West,
  • on Queen Street West at Palmerston Avenue, Claremont Street, across from Strachan Avenue and at Shaw Street, Ossington Avenue, Dovercourt Road, Beaconsfield and Gladstone Avenues, west of Dufferin Street, at Brock, O’Hara, Lansdowne, Sorauren, Triller and Roncesvalles Avenues.

Westbound bus passengers may transfer to westbound streetcars at Queen Street West and Roncesvalles Avenue.
