Christmas Eve, this Thursday, December 24, many people will likely knock off work early to get a head start on the holidays — or to do last-minute Christmas shopping.
The TTC, GO Transit, MiWay, YRT and other transit agencies are responding by starting afternoon rush-hour service earlier in the day — around noon. GO’s “early homebound” rush-hour service, in turn, requires local transit agencies to revise the schedules of buses that usually meet GO trains to take passengers into residential neighbourhoods.

Since GO Transit is now operating trains along the line Monday-to-Friday midday, it’s not adding “early homebound” rush-hour trains to the schedule this year. However, Brampton Transit will operate early buses from Bramalea GO Station to accommodate passengers heading home early.
Buses leave Bramalea GO Station at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. The buses end their trips on Bramalea Road North south of Williams Parkway East at 1:50, 2:50 and 3:50 p.m.
Brampton Transit is also decreasing rush-hour service along several routes throughout the holiday season.

GO is operating early homebound rush-hour service along most train lines and many bus routes.
65 Barrie trains and buses
Trains
GO operates earlier northbound trains along the line.
Early trains leave Union Station at 12:25 and 1:25 and 2:25 p.m. The trains serve all stations along the line until Allandale Waterfront GO Station, ending their trips at 2:08, 3:08 and 4:08 p.m.
GO is canceling the trains that usually leave Union at 4:40, 5:35 and 6:45 p.m. (The trains usually end their trips in Allandale at 6:29, 7:24 and 8:28 p.m.)
To accommodate the revised train schedule, GO is canceling many bus trips along the 65 route or adjusting their schedules. It’s also revising service along the 63 King City / Toronto routes.
Buses
Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Aurora, Newmarket and East Gwillimbury to travel aboard the earlier trains, it’s cancelling many northbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal in the early afternoon.

Since GO is now operating trains along the line Monday-to-Friday midday, it’s not adding “early homebound” rush-hour trains to the schedule this year. However, it is operating early buses along this route to accommodate passengers heading home early.
38 branch
GO is operating an extra bus, leaving Malton GO Station at 1:17 p.m. It ends trip on Queen Street North Bolton across from Columbia Way at 2:03 p.m.
Passengers riding the train operating along the 31 Kitchener line that leaves Union Station at 12:35 p.m. can connect with this bus at Malton GO Station. The train arrives in Etobicoke North at 1:17. Although GO has scheduled the bus to arrive in at 1:17 p.m., the bus will await the train to arrive and for all transferring passengers to board before leaving.
38A branch
GO is operating an early northbound bus. It leaves York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 12:50 p.m. It ends its trip on Albion - Vaughan Road north of Dovaston Gate in Bolton at 2:37 p.m.
Passengers riding the train operating along the 31 Kitchener line that leaves Union Station at 12:35 p.m. can connect with this bus at Etobicoke North GO Station. The train arrives in Etobicoke North at 1:11 p.m. GO has scheduled the bus to leave Etobicoke North at 1:22 p.m.

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Vaughan and King City to travel aboard earlier trains along the 61 Barrie line, it’s cancelling all northbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal and operating along this route in the early afternoon.
Specifically, it’s cancelling the buses that usually leave Union at 12:20, 1:20, 2:20 and 2:50 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips on Keele Street across from Station Street near the King City GO Station at 1:35, 2:35, 3:40 and 4:10 p.m.)
It’s also operating an extra bus along the route. It leaves Union at 6:40 p.m. and ends its trip in King City at 7:55 p.m.

Since GO is now operating trains along the line Monday-to-Friday midday, it’s not adding “early homebound” rush-hour trains to the schedule this year. However, it’s canceling the westbound train that usually leaves Union Station at 5:02 p.m. (The train usually ends its trip in Mount Pleasant GO Station at 5:58 p.m.
GO is also revising service along the 37 Orangeville / Brampton and 38 **Bolton / North York routes.

It’s also cancelling a bus that operates along the 12 Niagara Falls / Burlington bus that usually connects with the 4:10 train in Burlington.

It’s also adjusting the schedule so that the westbound buses that usually leave Union at 8:20 and 9:20 p.m. leave ten minutes later than usual at 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. The buses serve all stops along this branch of the route, ending their trips in Milton at 9:35 and 10:30 p.m.
