The TTC is repairing the concrete in the streetcar-track right-of-way on Carlton Street just east of Church Street, beside the westbound streetcar stop, starting Monday, January 11.
This work returns the track area to a state of good repair and will require the TTC to detour streetcars Saturday, January 16 and Sunday, January 17.
Starting at about 8 a.m. Monday, January 11, a crew starts breaking and removing concrete along the track area. They’ll finish removing concrete by late Friday, January 15 afternoon.
Once they’ve dug out the track section, they’ll install new concrete over the weekend. The new concrete will cure until 5 a.m. Monday, January 18, before vehicles can travel over the track area.
Most work takes place from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. Concrete will cure “around-the-clock” throughout the weekend.
Crews will make sure that one lane in each direction is open for traffic. The City of Toronto may temporarily restrict on-street parking on a short section of Carlton to maintain traffic through the area.
From 5 a.m. Saturday, January 16 until 5 a.m. Monday, January 18, the TTC is detouring streetcars operating along these routes:
Shuttle buses replace the cars, operating between Broadview and University Avenues.
You can “POP” through any door to board the buses, if you have a POP — a proof of payment, such as a transfer or pass. However, the buses will not have PRESTO fare-card readers, so you’ll have to pay your fare with tokens, tickets or cash if you usually use the cards.
