TTC upgrading power, using generator
at Runnymede Station, February 12 to 14

From 11 p.m. Friday, February 12 until 7 a.m. Sunday, February 14 the TTC is TTC upgrading the power supply at Runnymede Station to accommodate requirements for new elevators and other equipment. Installing new elevators is part of an upcoming project to make the station accessible in 2019.

To complete this work, crews will disconnect the main power supply and temporarily replace it with an “Ultra Quiet Diesel Generator”. These units are much quieter than the generators you usually see on construction sites. They’ll place the generator in front of the main entrance off Kennedy Avenue. Two alternate entrances from Kennedy Avenue will be available to passengers and signs will direct you safely into and out of the station.

The TTC has scheduled the work over the weekend to reduce the impact to passengers. The generator must operate continuously during the work to maintain power to the station.
