Update — Tuesday, July 12, 6:02 a.m.: The City and TTC reopened the intersection of College and Bathurst at 6 a.m. Monday, July 11. The TTC continues to revise or detour services due to the other construction projects on College Street.
Update — Friday, June 17, 6:25 p.m.: The TTC is also removing streetcar platforms at Bay and College Streets starting Monday, June 20. Work continues until June 26.
This summer, the City of Toronto and the TTC will be working on major construction projects near and on
- College Street between Lansdowne Avenue and Bathurst Street.
The City and TTC are hosting three open houses over the next few weeks, where you can learn more about the work they’re planning, the construction schedule and how the work affects you. Drop into any of the three events to speak with City and TTC project staff.
This summer, the City and TTC are:
- rebuilding the intersection with Lansdowne Avenue:
- removing and installing new TTC streetcar tracks;
- improving the intersection;
- resurfacing the roadway; and
- improving the sidewalk to meet the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
- rebuilding the intersection with Bathurst Street:
- removing the eastbound streetcar platform;
- rebuilding the westbound streetcar platform;
- removing and installing new streetcar tracks;
- resurfacing the roadway; and
- improving the sidewalk to meet the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
The City is also:
- upgrading the water-main under Lansdowne Avenue:
- replacing the main between Dundas Street West and Rideau Avenue to improve the water quality and infrastructure.
- upgrading the streetscape in the College Promenade Business Improvement Area:
- improving the quality of the sidewalk and street environment by building new parkettes, installing bike rings and light fixtures and planting trees between Havelock and Shaw Streets. .
- installing new lighting in the Little Italy Business Improvement Area:
- installing 16 new light poles and tree lights for 45 trees between Euclid Avenue and Bathurst Street.
All these projects will affect TTC service and delay services. Some may also require the TTC to detour buses and streetcars operating along these routes:
- 47 Lansdowne;
- 63 Ossington;
- 306 Carlton overnight;
- 310 Bathurst overnight;
- 363 Ossington overnight;
- 506 Carlton; and
- 511 Bathurst.
The TTC will post details of how each project affects TTC service closer to the date of each event.

- Northbound buses operating along the 63 Ossington route to Ossington Avenue and College Street. Cross College at the signal and walk two blocks west to the library.
