TTC upgrading overhead wiring
at Dundas / Bathurst February 23 to 26

Starting Tuesday, February 23 from 2 until 4:30 a.m., TTC overhead crews are restringing the overhead wiring that allows streetcars to turn at:

  • the intersection of Dundas Street West with Bathurst Street.

These upgrades are necessary so that the TTC’s new, low-floor accessible Toronto Flexity streetcars can turn through the intersection.

On average, crews will use two to three TTC overhead trucks with hydraulic equipment to carry out this work. You may hear beeping sounds from back-up alarms and see bright lights from other equipment while crews work overnight.

The work may block traffic lanes, but traffic can continue through the intersection in all four directions.

Since the work takes place after 2 a.m. and before 4:30 a.m., it doesn’t affect service along the 505 Dundas or 511 Bathurst routes. It also doesn’t affect service along the 310 Bathurst overnight route and buses operate through the intersection without detouring.

Work continues until Friday, February 26.
