After a successful pilot project at Main Street Station, the TTC is continuing to install new PRESTO fare gates at three more stations this month:
- Bay;
- Sherbourne; and
- Wellesley.
At all three stations, TTC crews will remove turnstiles and high gates and replace them with new, PRESTO-enabled fare gates. The new gates provide easier access and improve the flow of passengers into and out of stations.
After the new fare gates are active, you can still use tickets, tokens and Metropasses to pay your fare when you enter the station — but only at the collector booth aisle at the main entrance.
Station ambassadors will be available to help direct you into stations during construction.
Bay Station
The TTC is closing the “automatic” entrance on Cumberland Street from 6 p.m. Friday, April 1 until 6 a.m. Monday, April 4, as crews remove the turnstile and install hoarding. You can still enter the station through the main entrance on Bay Street or through the Bellair Street entrance.
When this entrance re-opens Monday, April 4, you can access the station through the collector-booth aisle or through a temporary station collector aisle beside the hoarding (in addition to the main entrance).
Construction to install the new fare gates at Bay Station continues for about six weeks, or until May 13.
Wellesley Station
Starting Tuesday, April 5, crews will replace the turnstiles at the main entrance with new fare gates. During construction, you can access the station through the collector-booth aisle or through a temporary station collector aisle beside the hoarding.
Construction to install the new fare gates at Wellesley Station continues for about three weeks, or until April 29.
Sherbourne Station
The TTC is closing the “automatic” entrance on Glen Road from 6 p.m. Friday, April 8 until 6 a.m. Monday, April 11, as crews remove the turnstile and install hoarding. You can still enter the station through the main entrance on Sherbourne Street.
When this entrance re-opens Monday, April 11,you can access the station through a temporary station collector aisle beside the hoarding (in addition to the main entrance).
Construction to install the new fare gates at Sherbourne Station continues for about fourweeks, or until May 6.
At an “automatic” entrance, you can enter only with a token or Metropass. After the station is PRESTO-enabled, you can use your PRESTO card to enter, too.
