Water Street Newmarket construction:
YRT detours, April 15 and 16



The Town of Newmarket is closing:

  • Water Street between Prospect Street and Main Street South

tonight and tomorrow as Metrolinx crews improve the railway crossing.

York Region Transit is detouring buses operating along these routes, while the street is closed:

  • 54 Bayview; and
  • 56 Gorham / Eagle.

54 Bayview

From 5 p.m. Friday, April 15 until 5 p.m. Saturday, April 16, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street South and Queen Street, then detour:

eastward along Queen; and then
southward along Prospect Street to Water Street / Gorham Street,
resuming their regular route southward along Prospect.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street South at Botsford Street and
  • on Water Street across from Doug Duncan Drive.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Water Street at Doug Duncan Drive and
  • on Main Street South across from Botsford Street and at Queen Street.
56 Gorham / Eagle

From 5 p.m. Friday, April 15 until 5 p.m. Saturday, April 16, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Gorham and Prospect Streets, then detour:

northward along Prospect;
westward along Queen Street; and then
southward along Main Street South to Water Street,
resuming their regular route westward along Water.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Water Street at Doug Duncan Drive.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Main Street South at Botsford Street.

Eastbound buses reverse the westbound detour routing.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Water Street across from Doug Duncan Drive.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Main Street South across from Botsford Street and at Queen Street.
