eglinton crosstown logo.pngThe façade and scaffolding at the site of the former House of Chan restaurant on Eglinton Avenue West, west of Bathurst Street, collapsed onto the sidewalk and roadway about 2:30 p.m. yesterday, Monday, April 18.

Emergency services personnel brought seven pedestrians to the hospital after the collapse. Steel and cinder blocks continue to block the roadway, as Ministry of Labour officials investigate the incident.

Metrolinx contractors were demolishing the building, which is on the site of a secondary entrance to the future Forest Hill Station for the Eglinton - Crosstown light rail transit line.

The TTC is detouring buses operating along these routes, until Ministry investigators finish their review and crews can clear the roadway:

  • 32 Eglinton West; and
  • 332 Eglinton West overnight.
