The City of Barrie is closing
- Mapleview Drive East at the Metrolinx / GO Transit railway crossing, just east of St. Paul’s Crescent
to vehicles and pedestrians from 6 p.m. Friday, April 22 until 6 p.m. Monday, April 25.
Metrolinx is upgrading the tracks and the City is removing and replacing the asphalt on both sides of the tracks. Crews will maintain access for local residents on each side of the crossing.
Barrie Transit is operating shuttle buses to drop off or pick up passengers on Mapleview East, Prince William Way and Big Bay Point Road, while the street is closed.
You can transfer to the shuttle buses from regular Barrie Transit buses operating along the 4A East Bayfield via Bayfield or to the shuttle buses from regular buses operating along the 4B South GO via Hurst routes at Big Bay Point Road / Hurst Drive or at Barrie South Go Station.
4A East Bayfield via Bayfield
From 6 p.m. Friday, April 22 until 6 p.m. Monday, April 25, buses start their trips at Barrie South GO Station, as usually, then proceed:
northward along Yonge Street and Ashford Drive; and then
eastward along Big Bay Point Road to Hurst Drive,
resuming their regular route northward along Hurst.Buses skip their regular stops
- on Mapleview Drive East across from Royal Jubilee Drive,
- on Prince William Way at Griffin Gate, The Queensway, Pepin Court, Empire Drive and Sovereign’s Gate and
- on Big Bay Point Road at Royal Parkside and Hurst Drives.
Instead, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops
- on Yonge Street across from Country Lane and Esther Drive.
4B South GO via Hurst
From 6 p.m. Friday, April 22 until 6 p.m. Monday, April 25, buses operate along their regular route to Hurst Drive and Big Bay Point Road, then detour:
westward along Big Bay Point;
southward along Ashford Drive and Yonge Street; and then
eastward into Barrie South GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.Buses skip their regular stops:
- on Big Bay Point Road at Sandringham Drive,
- on Prince William Way at Sovereign’s Gate, Empire and Sandringham Drives, Coronation Parkway and Majesty Boulevard and
- on Mapleview Drive East at Royal Jubilee Drive, beside #750 Mapleview East and at Yonge Street.
Instead, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops
- on Big Bay Point Road at Grand Forest Drive,
- on Ashford Drive at Kenneth Avenue and
- on Yonge Street at Esther Drive and Country Lane.
Shuttle buses
From 6 p.m. Friday, April 22 until 6 p.m. Monday, April 25, southbound buses start their trips at Barrie South GO Station then proceed:
northward along Yonge Street and Ashford Drive,
eastward along Big Bay Point Road;
southward along Prince William Way; and then
westward along Mapleview Drive East to the railway crossing,
ending their trips.Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops
- in Barrie South GO Station bus terminal,
- on Yonge Street across from Country Lane and Esther Drive,
- on Big Bay Point Road at Sandringham Drive,
- on Prince William Way at Sovereign’s Gate, Empire and Sandringham Drives, Coronation Parkway and Majesty Boulevard and
- on Mapleview Drive East at Royal Jubilee Drive and beside #750 Mapleview East.
Northbound buses reverse the southbound routing.
Northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops
- on Mapleview Drive East across from Royal Jubilee Drive,

- on Big Bay Point Road at Royal Parkside, Hurst and Grand Forest Drives,

- in Barrie South GO Station bus terminal.
