TTC installing new PRESTO fare gates
at Dufferin Station, starting April 22

Update — Wednesday, September 7, 2:43 p.m.: Construction has ended and passengers are using the new PRESTO-enabled fare gates at the station.

After a successful pilot project at Main Street Station, the TTC is continues to install new PRESTO fare gates at four more stations this month:

Dufferin Station is next.

At all five stations, TTC crews are removing turnstiles and high gates and replacing them with new, PRESTO-enabled fare gates. The new gates provide easier access and improve the flow of passengers into and out of stations.

After the new fare gates are active, you can still use tickets, tokens and Metropasses to pay your fare when you enter the station — but only at the collector booth aisle at the main entrance.

The TTC is assigning ambassadors to the stations to help you figure out how to get around during construction.

At Dufferin, TTC crews will work in three phases, to reduce the impact on passengers.

Phase 1:
Concourse level - Friday, April 22 until Tuesday, May 31

Crews are replacing the turnstiles with new fare gates. You can walk through the concourse level at all times. You can also enter the station from Dufferin Street through the east and west street-level entrances.

Phase 2:
Westbound platform second exit - Thursday, April 28 until Tuesday, May 31
Phase 3:
Eastbound platform second exit - Thursday, May 5 until Friday, June 10

During these phases, the TTC will close both second exits. You’ll have to exit through the main doors onto Dufferin Street. Once crews have finished and the second exits reopen, you’ll have the extra convenience of accessing the station at these locations with your PRESTO fare card.
