Bedford Road water-main construction:
TTC detours start April 26



Update — Friday, July 14. 2017, 4:58 p.m.: Construction and the TTC detours have ended.


Update — Tuesday, May 16. 2017, 11:02 a.m.: Construction and the TTC detours start continue until further notice.


Update — Friday, January 27, 2017, 9:51 p.m.: Construction and the TTC detours start continue until May 15, 2017.


Update, Friday, May 20, 9:46 p.m.: Construction on Bedford Road south of Davenport Road and detours for buses operating along the 26 Dupont route continue until January 2017.


Update, Tuesday, May 11, 7:33 p.m.: Construction at the intersection of Bedford and Davenport Roads has ended and buses operating along the 6 Bay route have resumed regular service.


Starting Tuesday, April 26, the City of Toronto is closing:

  • Bedford Road between Dupont Street and Bernard Avenue

during a major construction project to replace and re-line the water-mains.

The TTC is detouring buses operating along these routes, while the street is closed:

  • 6 Bay; and
  • 26 Dupont.

This phase of construction on Bedford Road and the detours continue until May 23. The project as a whole continues until February 2017. Construction on Bedford Road and the detour for buses operating along the 26 Dupont route continue until January 2017. The TTC previously announced that the detours resulting from this construction project started Monday, February 22.


6 Bay

From 6 a.m. Tuesday, April 26 until 6 a.m. Monday, May 23 Tuesday, May 11, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Dupont Street and Bedford Road, then detour:

eastward along Dupont; and then
southward along Avenue Road to Davenport Road,
resuming their regular route southeastward along Davenport.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Davenport Road at Avenue Road.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route.

26 Dupont

From 6 a.m. Tuesday, April 26 until 6 a.m. Monday, May 23 January, Monday, May 15, 2017, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Dupont and St. George Street, then detour:

southward along St. George;
eastward along Prince Arthur Avenue; and then
southward into St. George Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Dupont Street at Davenport and Bedford Roads and
  • on Bedford Road at Davenport Road, south of Bernard Avenue and at Lowther Avenue.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Dupont Street at St. George Street and
  • on St. George Street at Bernard and Lowther Avenues.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to Bedford Road and Prince Arthur Avenue, then detour:

westward along Prince Arthur; and then
northward along St. George Street to Dupont Street,
resuming their regular route westward along Dupont.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Bedford Road north of Lowther and Tranby Avenues and at Davenport Road and Dupont Street and
  • on Dupont Street at Davenport Road.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on St. George Street at Lowther and Bernard Avenues.
