Queen West Brampton Zum construction:
affects Brampton Transit service

The City of Brampton is getting ready to introduce more Brampton Transit Züm bus rapid transit service along Queen Street West this fall.

It’s starting to build new Züm stations, restricting passengers from boarding and exiting buses at certain stops between Mount Pleasant GO Station and the Downtown Terminal.

On Queen Street West between Mississauga Road and George Street, crews are installing three station stops, the City’s transit signal priority and emergency vehicle pre-emption systems and fibre infrastructure at 17 signalized mid-block intersections within the project limits.

Crews started installing bus shelters Monday, May 3. They’ll block traffic lanes on Queen West between Haggert Avenue and Elliott Street Tuesday, May 17 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The May 17 work may delay Brampton Transit buses operating along the 1 / 1A Queen and 56 Springbrook routes.

Peel Services Network crews are soon installing underground conduits on:

  • McMurchy Avenue North - between Nelson and Queen Streets West; and
  • Nelson Street West - between McMurchy Avenue North and George Street North.

Crews start installing a liner and casing under the rail crossing on Nelson Street West Thursday, May 19.

Crews are working on the project at:

  • Queen Street West and McLaughlin Road
  • Eastbound: west side of McLaughlin Road - Buses operating along the 56 Springbrook and 57 Charolais routes.
  • Westbound: west side of McLaughlin Road - Buses operating along the 1 / 1A Queen and 56 Springbrook routes.

Please use temporary bus stops.

  • Queen Street West and McMurchy Avenue
  • Westbound: west side of McMurchy Avenue - buses operating along the 1 / 1A Queen and 56 Springbrook routes.

Bus stop removed, use temporary bus stop or stop at Haggert Avenue.
