The City of Toronto is again hosting its annual Victoria Day fireworks display at Ashbridges Bay Park, starting at 9:45 p.m. Monday, May 23. The park stretches along the south side of Lake Shore Boulevard East between Woodbine and Coxwell Avenues.
The City expects that more than 80,000 people will visit the park and other nearby Eastern Beaches to watch the skies light up. It’s encouraging everyone to leave their cars at home and walk, cycle or travel by transit to and from the event.
To handle the crowds, the TTC usually increases service to the park and the Beach neighbourhood by operating more buses and streetcars along nearby routes throughout the afternoon and evening.
This year, it’s detouring or adding more service to buses and streetcars operating along these routes:
22 Coxwell
After noon, Victoria Day, Monday, May 23, the TTC splits the route in two. In the west, buses operate between Coxwell / Danforth Avenues and either Lake Shore Boulevard East or Dundas Street East. In the east, shuttle buses operate along Kingston Road between Bingham Loop (Kingston Road / Victoria Park Avenue) and Woodbine Loop (Kingston Road / Queen Street East).
In the west, it’s operating extra buses along the route after noon and interlining them with buses operating along the 92 Woodbine South route.
In the west, buses operate along two detour routings:
From noon until 6 p.m. Victoria Day, Monday, May 23, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Coxwell Avenue and Queen Street East, then proceed:
southward along Coxwell; and then
eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard East to beside Ashbridge’s Bay Park,
ending their trips.Southbound buses do not enter the park or the Woodbine Beach Loop.
Southbound buses skip their regular stop
- on Eastern Avenue south of Queen Street East.
Instead, southbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop
- on Lake Shore Boulevard East beside Ashbridge’s Bay Park.
Northbound buses start their trips on Lake Shore Boulevard East at Northern Dancer Boulevard, across from Ashbridge’s Bay Park, then proceed:
westward along Lake Shore East; and then
northward along Coxwell Avenue to Eastern Avenue,]
resuming their regular route northward along Coxwell.Northbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Eastern Avenue south of Queen Street East.
Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop
- on Lake Shore Boulevard East at Northern Dancer Boulevard.
After 6 p.m. Victoria Day, Monday, May 23, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Coxwell Avenue and Dundas Street East, then detour,
eastward along Dundas East to just west of Kingston Road,
ending their trips.Southbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Coxwell Avenue at Queen Street East and
- on Eastern Avenue south of Queen Street East.
Northbound buses start their trips on Dundas Street East west of Kingston Road, then proceed:
westward along Dundas East to Coxwell Avenue,

- on Eastern Avenue south of Queen Street East and
- on Coxwell Avenue north of Eastern Avenue and at Dundas Street East.
22A Coxwell via Kingston Rd
After noon, Victoria Day, Monday, May 23, buses operate only on Kingston Road between Bingham Loop (Kingston Road / Victoria Park) and Woodbine Loop (Kingston Road / Queen Street East). Buses do not operate on Queen Street East or Eastern and Coxwell Avenues.
64 Main
In previous years, the TTC has offered passengers extra service along this route to help Victoria Day afternoon and evening to help passengers travel between the 2 Bloor - Danforth subway line and the Eastern Beaches to enjoy the fireworks.
It has not announced this extra service this year.
501 Queen
After noon, Victoria Day, Monday, May 23, the TTC is operating extra streetcars along the regular route.
After 6 p.m. Monday, the TTC splits the route in two, with streetcars operating west of Woodbine Loop (Kingston Road / Queen Street East) and buses between Neville Park and Woodbine Loops.
From 7 p.m. until midnight — and especially around 10 p.m. — the City may close Queen Street East to all traffic between Woodbine and Coxwell Avenues. In that case, streetcars will not operate east of Connaught Avenue. Buses would continue between Neville Park and Woodbine Loops.
92 Woodbine South
After noon, Victoria Day, Monday, May 23, the TTC is operating extra buses along the route and interlining them with buses operating along the 22 Coxwell route.
Buses operate along two detour routings:
From noon until 6 p.m. Monday, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Lake Shore Boulevard East and Northern Dancer Boulevard,
ending their trips.
Buses do not enter Woodbine Beach Loop.
Northbound buses start their trips on Lake Shore Boulevard East east of Ashbridge’s Bay Road beside Woodbine Beach Loop, then proceed:
along their regular route eastward along Lake Shore East.
After 6 p.m. Monday, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Woodbine Avenue and Kingston Road, then detour:
southwestward along Kingston; and then
westward along Dundas Street East to just west of Kingston,
ending their trips.Southbound buses skip their regular stops:
- on Woodbine Avenue at Columbine Avenue and Queen Street East,
- on Lake Shore Boulevard East beside #1816 Lake Shore East and
- in Woodbine Beach Loop.
Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Kingston Road across from Columbine Avenue and at Dundas Street East.
Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.
Northbound buses skip their regular stops
- in Woodbine Beach Loop,
- on Lake Shore Boulevard East across from #1816 Lake Shore East,
- on Woodbine Avenue at Kewbeach Avenue, north of Queen Street East, at Norway Avenue and Kingston Road.
Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Kingston Road at Rainsford Road and Woodbine Avenue.
