Wellesley East crane activity:
TTC detour, May 21

The City of Toronto is closing:

  • Wellesley Street East west of Church Street

tomorrow, Saturday, May 21 morning and afternoon to accommodate contractors who are lifting a crane at a construction site.

The TTC is detouring buses operating along this route, while the street is closed:

  • 94 Wellesley.

94 Wellesley

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, May 20, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Wellesley Street East and Jarvis Street, then detour:

northward along Jarvis;
westward along Charles Street East*;
southward along Yonge Street;
eastward along Wellesley Street East;
northward into Wellesley Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Wellesley Street East at Church Street.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Wellesley Station bus terminal, then detour:

westward along Wellesley Street East;
southward along Yonge Street;
eastward along College Street; and then
northward along Jarvis Street to Wellesley East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Wellesley.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Wellesley Street East at Church and Jarvis Streets.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Yonge Street at Grosvenor Street and
  • on College Street at Church and Jarvis Streets.

* The TTC’s notice says that eastbound buses detour via Jarvis, Alexander and Yonge Streets, but Alexander and Jarvis do not intersect and Alexander is, in fact, south of Wellesley, not north. Charles Street East is our best guess as to the actual street that forms part of the detour routing.
