From 9 p.m. tonight Friday, June 3 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 6, TTC electrical crews are restringing new overhead power wires on
- Dundas Streets West and East between Bay and Church Streets.
They’re upgrading the wiring to allow the TTC to operate its new low-floor, accessible Toronto Flexity streetcars along this section of the street in the future. Over the past two years, electrical crews have been upgrading the overhead wire system along most streetcar routes in the city.
To complete this overhead work as quickly and efficiently as possible, the crews will generally work “around-the-clock” — 24 hours a day.
They’ll use three TTC overhead trucks with hydraulic equipment during the project. Expect to hear beeping sounds from back-up alarms on the trucks and see bright lights from the other equipment lights.
The TTC is detouring streetcars operating along this route, while work proceeds:
- 505 Dundas.
Shuttle buses replace the cars, operating between Elizabeth and Jarvis Streets.
