Lakeshore Road Burlington construction:
HSR detours start July 4

The City of Burlington is closing:

  • Lakeshore Road between Eastport Drive and North Shore Boulevard East / Maple Avenue

during a project to

  • widen the road to include three lanes, including a turning lane and bike lanes;
  • install curbs and sidewalks;
  • install a new watermain and storm sewers; and
  • install traffic signals.

Crews started working in late May to prepare for the project, but the road remained open during this work. Starting Monday, July 4, the city will impose rolling road closures, blocking the streets at various points to through traffic.

The Hamilton Street Railway is detouring buses operating along this route, while construction proceeds:

  • 11 Parkdale.

Construction on Lakeshore Road and the detour continue until November 18.
