Starting 8 a.m. Monday, July 11, TTC track crews are replacing worn rail at the westbound streetcar stop on Howard Park Avenue at Indian Road.
They’re removing the old rail and installing, welding and grinding new rail. They’ll store the new rail in the track allowance on Howard Park Avenue, just west of Sunnyside Avenue. This work takes place while the TTC is replacing streetcars with buses along the 506 Carlton during construction on College Street.
The work requires about four days to complete. Crews will mill the old concrete before removing it between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. After they install new concrete, they’ll leave it to cure overnight.
They’ll create a safe work zone during the rail work, by restricting traffic to just one lane in each direction. The City of Toronto will temporarily prohibit on-street parking through the work zone and rail storage area. The work will not affect transit service since all work takes place on the TTC tracks. Buses serving the 506 Carlton route operate along their regular routing.
TTC track repairs on Howard Park Avenue continue until July 15.
