The Caribbean Carnival Grand Parade isn’t the only event to affect transit services this weekend.

Other special events take place in Barrie, Brampton, the Downsview area of Toronto, the Georgetown area of Halton Hills, the Hespeler area of Cambridge, the Lindsay area of Kawartha Lakes and Milton.

The Friday, July 29 event affecting transit services is: the Hespeler Village Farmers Market.

The Saturday, July 30 events affecting transit services are: the Brampton Farmers Market; the Georgetown Farmers Market; Kempenfest; the Lindsay Farmers Market; the Milton Farmers Market; and the Veld Music Festival.

The Sunday, July 31 events affecting transit services are: Kempenfest; and Veld Music Festival.

The Monday, August 1 event affecting transit services is: Kempenfest.


Barrie


Kempenfest

Barrie’s annual celebration of arts, music, crafts and culture takes place all weekend along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay (Lake Simcoe) in downtown Barrie.

All Barrie Transit routes

Barrie Transit is operating buses along all routes every hour from about 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, August 1.

Kempenfest Express shuttles

From 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, July 30, Sunday, July 31 and Monday, August 1, Barrie Transit is operating free bus service along three routes. You can park at one of the shuttle terminals and ride a shuttle bus to the event and back again at the end of the day.

Kempenfest Express Shuttle A

From 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, Sunday, July 31 and Monday, August 1, buses operate to and from downtown Barrie and through the waterfront area every 10 minutes.

The buses operate on a circular, counterclockwise route.

Inbound buses start their trips at Minet’s Point Road and Lakeshore Drive, then proceed:

northward along Lakeshore and Toronto Street;
eastward along Simcoe Street;
northward along Mary Street;
to a stop beside platform 5 in Downtown Barrie Transit Terminal.

Inbound buses drop off or pick up passengers:

  • on Lakeshore Drive west of Minet’s Point Road, at Southshore Community Centre, across from Tiffin Street,
  • in Centennial Park’s south parking lot and
  • on Mary Street beside Downtown Barrie Terminal,

Outbound buses leave the Downtown Barrie Transit Terminal; then proceed:

northward along Mary Street;
eastward along Dunlop Street West;
southward along Bradford Street;
southwestward along Essa Road;
westward along Burton Avenue; and then
northward along Minet’s Point Road; and then
westward along Lakeshore Drive to a stop just west of Minet’s Point Road,
ending their trips.

Outbound buses drop off or pick up passengers :

  • on Mary Street beside Downtown Barrie Terminal,
  • on Bradford Street at Victoria Street
  • on Lakeshore Drive west of Minet’s Point Road.
Kempenfest Express Shuttle B

From 9:05 a.m. until 6:25 p.m. Saturday, July 30, Sunday, July 31 and Monday, August 1, buses leave Coulter Street beside the south end of Bayfield Mall every 40 minutes. They arrive in Centennial Park’s south parking lot every 40 minutes from 9:22 a.m. until 6:42 p.m. They leave Centennial Park every 40 minutes from 9:25 a.m. until 6:45 p.m. They return to Bayfield Mall every 40 minutes from 9:42 a.m. until 7:02 p.m.

Buses stop only at Bayfield Mall and Centennial Park.

Buses heading to the event start on Coulter Street beside the south end of the mall, then proceed:

west- and northward along Coulter;
westward along Cundles Road West;
southward along Anne Streets North and South;
eastward along Tiffin Street; and then
northward along Lakeshore Drive to Centennial Park,
ending their trips.

Buses returning from the event start at Centennial Park, then proceed:

southward along Lakeshore Drive;
westward along Tiffin Street;
northward along Anne Streets South and North;
eastward along Cundles Road West;
southward along Bayfield Street; and then
westward along Coulter Street to a stop on the south side of the mall,
ending their trips.

Kempenfest Express Shuttle C

From 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30, Sunday, July 31 and Monday, August 1, buses leave the Allandale Recreation Centre (Bayview and Little Avenues) parking lot every 30 minutes. They leave Centennial Park’s south parking lot every 30 minutes from 9:15 a.m. until 6:45 p.m. They return to the recreation centre at 9:28 a.m. and every 30 minutes until 6:58 p.m.

Buses travelling to the event stop only at Essa Road and Anne Street and Allandale Waterfront GO Station to pick up passengers. Buses returning to Allandale Recreation Centre stop only to drop off passengers at Barrie Curling Club on Essa Road south of Anne Street.

Buses heading to the event start at the Barrie Transit stop on the south side of Allandale Recreation Centre, then proceed:

westward along Little Avenue;
northward along Fairview Road;
northeastward along Essa Road;
east- and northward through Allandale Waterfront GO Station bus terminal; and then
northward along Lakeshore Drive to Centennial Park,
ending their trips.

Buses returning from the event start at Centennial Park, then proceed:

southward along Lakeshore Drive;
southwestward along Essa Road;
southward along Fairview Road;
eastward along Little Avenue;
southward along Bayview Drive; and then
westward through the Allandale Recreation Centre grounds to the Barrie Transit stop on the south side of the recreation centre,
ending their trips.


Brampton


Brampton Farmers Market

Saturday mornings and early afternoons until October 8, the City of Brampton is closing

  • Main Streets North and South between Nelson and Wellington Streets

to accommodate the city’s weekly farmers market.

Brampton Transit is detouring service during the market.

2 Main

From 5:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Nelson Street, then detour:

westward along Nelson Street West, passing, but not stopping at, the Downtown Transit Terminal,
southward along George Streets North and South; and then
eastward along Wellington Street West to Main South,
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Main Street North at Queen Street West and
  • on Main Street South at Wellington Street West.

Northbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Streets South and North at Wellington Street, John Street, north of Queen Street and at Theatre Lane.

56 Springbrook

From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, southbound buses start their trips on George Street North across from Diplock Lane, then proceed:

southward along George North to Queen Street West,
resuming their regular route westward along Queen West.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on George Street North north of Diplock Lane,
  • on Main Street South at Wellington Street West and
  • on Wellington Street West at George Street South.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on George Street North across from Diplock Lane.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Queen Street West and Mill Street North, then detour:

northward along Mill North; and then
eastward along Nelson Street West to George Street North,
ending their trips.

Northbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on George Street North north of Diplock Lane.

24 Van Kirk

From 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Nelson Street East, then detour:

eastward along Nelson East; and then
southward along George Street North to a temporary stop across from Diplock Lane,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street South at Wellington Street West,
  • on Wellington Street West at George Street South and
  • on George Street North north of Diplock Lane.

Northbound buses start their trips on George Street North across from Diplock Lane, then proceed:

southward along George North;
westward along Queen Street West;
northward along Mill Street North; and then
eastward along Nelson Street West to George North,
resuming their regular route eastward along Nelson West.

eastward along Wellington Street West to Main South,
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

Southbound buses skip this Züm station:

  • Wellington.

Northbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Northbound buses skip these Züm stations:

All day Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31, eastbound buses start their trips on Carl Hall Road east of The Hangar, then proceed:

eastward along Carl Hall; and then
northward along Chesswood Drive to Sheppard Avenue West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Sheppard West.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Carl Hall Road across from #35 Carl Hall and
  • on Sheppard Avenue West across from Tuscan Gate and at Chesswood Drive. Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Sheppard Avenue West at Chesswood Drive, west of Bakersfield Street and at Tuscan Gate and
  • on Carl Hall Road beside #35 Carl Hall and #75 Carl Hall.

From 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30, eastbound buses from Guelph operate along their regular route to Main and Guelph Streets (Provincial Highway 7) and then proceed:

southeastward along Guelph to Mill Street,
resuming their regular route southwestward along Guelph.

  • on Main Street South opposite Cross Street and at Wesleyan Street and
