Metrolinx contractors continue to work on a long-term project to revitalize train and passenger infrastructure in Union Station.
It opened the new GO Transit York Concourse to provide passengers with better access to and from train platforms and more amenities to enjoy while they’re heading to and from the trains in April 2015.
A year ago, Sunday, August 16, it closed GO’s Bay Concourse — the area at the east end of the station along Bay Street — for as long as two years.
Starting Wednesday, August 10, it’s closing platforms 11 to 13 and the tracks that serve them to continue refurbishing the steel train shed structure and then installing a new roof above the shed. That means that GO has to find other platforms to line up its trains and that many GO passengers may have board trains at other platforms than usually Mondays to Fridays during afternoon rush hours.
Passengers board all or some trains at different platforms than usually along these lines, starting Wednesday:
Closing platforms 11 to 13 does not affect GO train service along the 21 Milton and 71 Stouffville lines.
Here’s how you can get to various GO train platforms at Union Station, starting Wednesday, August 10.
65 Barrie
Monday to Friday afternoons starting Thursday, August 10, all northbound trains leave platforms 9 and 10 at Union Station.
31 Kitchener
Monday to Friday afternoons after 3:40 p.m., starting Thursday, August 10, all westbound trains leave platforms 7 and 8 at Union Station.
09 Lakeshore East
Starting Thursday, August 10, the eastbound trains that usually leave Union Station at 2:43 and 5:15 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leave from platforms 25 and 26.
The eastbound express train that usually leaves Union at 5:15 p.m. leaves from platform 24.
All other trains continue to operate from their usual platforms.
01 Lakeshore West
Starting Thursday, August 10, the westbound trains that usually leave Union Station at 9:18 and 10:13 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leave from platform 4.
The westbound trains that usually leave Union at 3:15, 3:40, 4:10, 4:40, 5:40, 6:15 and 6:43 p.m. Mondays to Fridays leave from platforms 5 and 6.
The westbound express train that usually leaves Union at 5:15 p.m. leaves from platforms 9 and 10.
All other trains continue to operate from their usual platforms.
61 Richmond Hill
Starting Thursday, August 10, the northbound* train that usually leaves Union Station at 3:10 p.m. leaves from platform 7 and 8.
All other northbound trains leave from platform 3.
