Update — Friday, January 20, 2017, 6:47 a.m.: Starting 6 a.m. today, the TTC again extends the route for buses operating along the 511 Bathurst route into Exhibition Place, instead of starting and ending trips in Princes’ Gate Loop. Construction in Exhibition Loop and the TTC detours continue until March 25. Buses and streetcars resume service into the loop starting Sunday, March 26.

Update — Sunday, November 20, 12:21 a.m.: Starting today, the TTC replaces streetcars with buses along the 511 Bathurst route. The buses operate to and from Princes’ Gate Loop, instead of Fleet Loop, replacing the need for the temporary shuttle buses.

Update — Friday, September 23, 5:34 a.m.: Due to the large number of events in Exhibition Place, starting Tuesday, September 27, the TTC is detouring all buses and streetcars serving the area until January 20, 2017.

The TTC and Metrolinx are working together to rehabilitate the TTC’s Exhibition Loop and the eastbound platform at GO Transit’s Exhibition GO Station.

During phase 1 of this project, starting Monday, January 4, contractors:

  • rehabilitated concrete on both TTC and GO properties;
  • replaced the retaining wall with a new barrier wall that separates the two properties; and
  • replaced streetcar tracks on the north side of the loop.

(The retaining wall is about 100 years old.)

During phase 2 of this project, starting 1 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, contractors are:

  • rebuilding track and drainage on the south side of the loop, including the tracks leading to Strachan Avenue;
  • replacing seven underground electrical splice chambers; and
  • returning tracks, drainage and electrical underground infrastructure to a state of good repair.

While the loop is closed, the TTC is detouring service along these streetcar and bus routes:

  • 307 Bathurst overnight;
  • 363 Ossington overnight;
  • 509 Harbourfront; and
  • 511 Bathurst.

Shuttle buses replace streetcar service along Fleet Street, operating between Exhibition Place and Bathurst Street.

The TTC intends to reopen the loop to buses by Saturday, November 19 and complete all work by Saturday, December 17.
