GRT hosts public meetings, September 22, 29
on 2017 - 2021 business plan



Grand River Transit is hosting two public consultation events where you can review and comment on its proposed 2017-21 business plan. Region of Waterloo and GRT staff will be available to answer your questions.

The Region’s 2011 transportation master plan set an annual ridership target of 28 million GRT rides by 2021. GRT’s 2017-21 Business Plan will guide its plans for improving the regional transit network and service levels to meet the 2021 ridership goal.

During these events you can learn more about:

  • The proposed 2017 service plan;
  • The planned 2018 and 2021 transit network;
  • The new electronic fare system; and
  • The ION light rail transit line and how the region plans to integrate it with the GRT network.

Getting there by public transit

  • Inbound GRT buses operating along the 3 Ottawa South route to Block Line Road across from Rittenhouse Road. Walk west along the north side of Block Line to the pedestrian cross walk. Cross Block Line, then walk east along the south side of Block Line to Rittenhouse. Walk south to the arena.
  • Outbound buses operating along the 3 Ottawa South route to Block Line and Rittenhouse Roads. Walk south to the arena.
  • Southbound buses operating along the 12 Westmount route to Block Line and Rittenhouse Roads. Walk south to the arena.
  • Northbound buses operating along the 12 Westmount route to Block Line Road across from Rittenhouse Road. Walk west along the north side of Block Line to the pedestrian cross walk. Cross Block Line, then walk east along the south side of Block Line to Rittenhouse. Walk south to the arena.
  • Inbound buses operating along the 22 Laurentian West route to Rittenhouse and Block Line Roads. Cross to the west side of Rittenhouse and walk south to the arena.
  • Outbound buses operating along the 22 Laurentian West route to Rittenhouse Road across from Brookfield Crescent [north], beside the arena.

Getting there by public transit

  • Eastbound buses operating along the 5 Erb route to Erb Street West east of Avondale Avenue South. Cross Erb West (carefully — no signal or crosswalk!), then walk north along Avondale North to the community centre.
  • Westbound buses operating along the 5 Erb route to Erb Street West west of Avondale Avenue North. Walk north along Avondale North to the community centre.
  • Buses operating along the 8 Fairview via Westmount / Franklin route to Westmount Road North south of Westcourt Place. Walk north to the signal, then cross Westmount. Walk east along Father David Bauer Drive to the community centre.
  • Buses operating along the 8 University via Franklin / Westmount route to Westmount Road North at Father David Bauer Drive. Walk east along Father David Bauer to the community centre.
  • Southbound buses operating along the 12 Westmount route to Westmount Road North south of Westcourt Place. Walk north to the signal, then cross Westmount. Walk east along Father David Bauer Drive to the community centre.
  • Northbound buses operating along the 12 Westmount route to to Westmount Road North at Father David Bauer Drive. Walk east along Father David Bauer to the community centre.

Inbound buses operate toward downtown Kitchener.

Outbound buses operate away from downtown Kitchener.
