TTC opening Harvey Shops
to benefit United Way, September 24

You can look behind the scenes at the TTC’s Harvey Shop, this Saturday, September 24, during the annual open house benefiting the United Way of Toronto and York Region.

You can enjoy a variety of activities, including guided tours of Harvey Shop, a silent auction, a barbecue and a virtual subway simulator game during the event from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. tomorrow. A new low-floor Toronto Flexity streetcar and a vintage Peter Witt car are on display.

The TTC is operating a shuttle service between Bathurst Station and the Hillcrest complex for those taking transit to the event.

The TTC established the Harvey Shop in the early 1920s. Part of the Hillcrest Complex at 1138 Bathurst Street, the shop is the major maintenance facility for the streetcar fleet and component manufacturer for subway cars and buses.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children, with all proceeds supporting the United Way.
