YRT detour, September 28, 29



The Town of Richmond Hill is closing:

  • Centre Street East between Newkirk Road and Pugsley Avenue

from 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 28 until 5 p.m. Thursday, September 29 to allow Canadian National Railway railway crews to maintain the tracks at the Centre Street level crossing.

York Region Transit is detouring buses operating along this route, while the street is closed:

  • 240 Mill Pond GO shuttle.

From 9 a.m. Wednesday, September 28 until 5 p.m. Thursday, September 29, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Pugsley Avenue and Centre Street East, then detour:

southward along Pugsley;
eastward along Major Mackenzie Drive East;
northward along Newkirk Road; and then
westward into Richmond Hill GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Centre Street East east of Pugsley Avenue.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Pugsley Avenue at Roseview Avenue and
  • on Major Mackenzie Drive East at Lennox and Cedar Avenues.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Centre Street East east of Pugsley Avenue.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Newkirk Road at Major Mackenzie Drive East,
  • on Major Mackenzie Drive East at Cedar and Pugsley Avenues and
  • on Pugsley Avenue at Roseview Avenue and Centre Street East.
