TTC detours, October 6 to 11



The City of Toronto is closing the intersection of

  • Bay Street with Richmond Street West from 6 a.m. Thursday until 9 a.m. Tuesday,

as crews replace the streetcar tracks on Richmond West. (The work is part of the ongoing project to upgrade Richmond Streets East and West between Church and York Streets.)

It’s also closing the intersection of

  • Bay Street with Adelaide Street West from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday,

as crews move a crane at a construction site.

The TTC is detouring buses operating along this route, while the intersections are closed:

  • 6 Bay.

6 Bay

From 6 a.m. Thursday, October 6 until 9 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, the TTC detours its buses along three different routings.

6 Bay

From 6 a.m. Thursday, October 6 until 9 p.m. Friday, October 7, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and Queen Street West, then detour:

westward along Queen West;
southward along University Avenue; and then
eastward along Adelaide Street West to Bay,
resuming their regular route southward along Bay.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Bay Street at Adelaide Street West.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Queen Street West across from York Street and
  • on Adelaide Street West east of University Avenue and at Bay Street.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and Adelaide Street West, then detour:

eastward along Adelaide Streets West and East;
northward along Church Street; and then
westward along Dundas Streets East and West to Bay,
resuming their regular route northward along Bay.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Bay Street north of Adelaide Street West, at Queen Street West and Albert Street, across from Hagerman Street and at Dundas Street West.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Adelaide Street East east of Yonge Street,
  • on Church Street north of Lombard Street,
  • on Dundas Street East at Yonge Street and
  • on Dundas Street West at Bay Street.
6 Bay

From 9 p.m. Friday, October 7 until 5 a.m. Thanksgiving, Monday, October 10, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and Queen Street West, then detour:

westward along Queen West;
southward along University Avenue; and then
eastward along King Street West to Bay,
resuming their regular route southward along Bay.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Bay Street at Adelaide and King Streets West.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Queen Street West across from York Street and
  • on King Street West at York and Bay Streets.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Bay Street and King Street West, then detour:

eastward along King Streets West and East;
northward along Church Street; and then
westward along Dundas Streets East and West to Bay,
resuming their regular route northward along Bay.

  • on Bay Street north of Adelaide Street West, at Queen Street West and Albert Street, across from Hagerman Street and at Dundas Street West.

resuming their regular route southward along Bay.

  • on Bay Street at Adelaide Street West.
