The annual Scotiabank Waterfront Marathon in downtown Toronto dominates the list of special events affecting transit services in the Greater Golden Horseshoe Area this weekend.

Other events take place in the Bowmanville area of Clarington, Cambridge, the Georgetown area of Halton Hills, Guelph, Kitchener, the Lindsay area of Kawartha Lakes, Vaughan and Waterloo this weekend.

The Region of Durham and the Municipality of Clarington are closing

  • King Street East Bowmanville (Regional Highway 2) between Scugog and Ontario Streets

Friday evening and Saturday morning and afternoon to accommodate the Historic Downtown Bowmanville Business Improvement Area’s annual fall festival.

Durham Region Transit and GO Transit are detouring buses while the street is closed.

resuming their regular route westward along King West.

From 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, October 15, eastbound buses from Guelph operate along their regular route to Main and Guelph Streets (Provincial Highway 7) and then proceed:

southeastward along Guelph to Mill Street,
resuming their regular route southwestward along Guelph.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street South opposite Cross Street and at Wesleyan Street and
  • on Mill Street at Guelph Street.

Westbound buses reverse the detour routing.

With the HSR’s Ticket to Ride program, you can ride free of fare to Tim Horton’s Field for as much as two hours before game time and free of fare from the stadium until the end of service.

2 Barton

Buses serve all local stops between the Hamilton GO Centre, downtown Hamilton and Barton Street East at Lenister Avenue North — just one block north of Tim Hortons Field.

3 Cannon

Buses serve all local stops between the Hamilton GO Centre, downtown Hamilton and Cannon Street East at Balsam Avenue North — just south of Tim Hortons Field.

Tiger-Cats Express shuttles

The City of Toronto is closing

  • Bay Streetbetween Queen and Dundas Streets West, from 11 a.m. Saturday, October 15 until 8 p.m. Sunday, October 16; and between Queen Street West and Lake Shore Boulevard West from 4 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Sunday; and between Lake Shore Boulevard West and Queens Quay West from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. Sunday (northbound lanes are open between Harbour Street and Union Station GO Bus Terminal for GO buses).

It’s also closing many other streets at various times from about 4 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Sunday to accommodate the annual event, including:

  • Adelaide Street West between Simcoe and York Streets and between Sheppard and Yonge Streets;
  • Bathurst Street between Bloor Street West and Lake Shore Boulevard West;

southward into St George Station terminal,
ending their trips.

These regular southbound route 5 stops have no transit service from about 8 until 11 a.m. Sunday:

  • on Avenue Road across from Yorkville Avenue and at Bloor Street West,
  • on Queens Park across from Charles Street West (beside Museum Station),
  • on Queens Park Crescent West beside Trinity College, Hart House and the University of Toronto library and
  • on Queens Park Crescent East north of College Street.

Instead, southbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • in St George Station terminal.

Northbound buses start their trips in St George Station terminal, then proceed:

northward along Bedford Road; and then
eastward along Prince Arthur Avenue to Avenue Road,
resuming their regular route northward along Avenue Road.

These regular northbound route 5 stops have no transit service from about 8 until 11 a.m. Sunday:

  • on Queens Park Crescent East north of College Street, at Wellesley Street West and north of St. Joseph Street,

southward along Canada Drive; and then
eastward into Princes’ Gate Loop,
ending their trips.

These regular southbound route 511 stops have no transit service from about 8 until 10:30 a.m. Sunday:

  • on Bathurst Street at Sussex, Harbord, Ulster and College Streets, across from Nassau Street, at Dundas Street West, beside #276 Bathurst, at Robinson Street and Queen Street West, south of Portugal Square, at King Street West, south of Wellington Street West, across from Front Street West and at Fort York Boulevard,

The TTC operates buses along the route with two different detours this weekend:

eastward along Gerrard West;
