U of T Scarborough construction blocks loop:
DRT detour starts October 28



Update — Wednesday, *January 2, 2019, 3:30 a.m.*: DRT is revising the path for buses operating along the route to adopt a permanent routing in the area, starting Monday, January 7.


Update — Friday, April 28, 2017, 2:04 p.m.: The detours continue **until further notice.


The University of Toronto has started a project to build a new home for the Social Sciences departments, the Registrar’s Office and other services — Highland Hall — on its Scarborough Campus. Starting Friday, October 28, construction temporarily blocks access to the north side of the bus loop on campus.

Durham Region Transit is detouring buses operating along this route, while this phase of construction proceeds:

This phase of construction at the U of T Scarborough loop and DRT, GO and TTC detours continue until May 2017.

Starting Friday, October 28, westbound buses operate along their regular route to Ellesmere Road and Military Trail, ending their trips.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • in U of T Scarborough loop.

Instead, westbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Ellesmere Road (westbound) at Military Trail.

Eastbound buses start their trips on Ellesmere Road at Military Trail, then proceed:

northwestward along Military;
southward along Morningside Avenue; and then
eastward along Ellesmere to Military Trail,
resuming their regular route eastward along Ellesmere.

Instead, eastbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Ellesmere Road (westbound) at Military Trail.
