Update — Saturday, June 20, 2020, 1:29 a.m.: Final paving for the project affects Brampton Transit service from June 22 until about June 30, 2020.
Starting Sunday, October 30, the cities of Brampton and Mississauga are closing:
- Torbram Road between Steeles Avenue East and Rena Road,
as contractors get ready to build two grade separations. The grade separations are overpasses to carry the tracks of the Canadian National Railway’s Halton subdivision and Metrolinx’ Weston subdivision over the roadway. GO Transit trains serving the 31 Kitchener line operate along the Weston Subdivision at this point.
Trains crossing Torbram on the two railway lines often delay traffic in both directions. The two cities are working together to build the bridges to eliminate the bottleneck.
Brampton Transit is detouring buses operating along this route, while the road is closed:
- 14 Torbram.
Construction for this phase of the project on Torbram Road and the detours continue until November 21.
During the project to build the two bridges, contractors are diverting the road- and railways, relocating utilities, rebuilding a storm-water pumping station, improving culvert channels, installing new street-lighting and rebuilding the roadway.
During an earlier phase of this project, the City of Mississauga closed the roadway south of Rena Road, requiring Brampton Transit and MiWay to detour buses from Friday, May 20 until Sunday, July 17.
