Dufferin overhead cabling upgrades:
TTC detours, November 17

Update — Monday, December 5, 6:56 a.m.: The TTC is rescheduling this work for Tuesday, December 6.

From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, November 17, TTC overhead crews install new cabling on Dufferin Street between Queen Street West and Dufferin Gate Loop. They’ll complete the work in one day but remove the old cable at a later date.

They’re installing the cable from pole to pole along the west sidewalk on Dufferin Street. They’ll use three TTC overhead trucks to string up new cable — one truck will be stationary on Dufferin Street at the exit from Dufferin Gate Loop, one truck will be stationary on Dufferin at Queen and the third truck will move along Dufferin Street as crews pull the cable from one truck to the other.

Crews may temporarily block traffic lanes while they work. They’ll also place yellow caution tape along the west curb between Queen Street and the loop.

The TTC is detouring buses and streetcars operating along these routes, while the work proceeds:

  • 29 Dufferin; and
  • 514 Cherry.
