Toronto Transit Commission meets, November 21

The Toronto Transit Commission meets tomorrow, Monday, November 21 at 10 a.m. in Committee Room 2, City Hall, 100 Queen Street West.

The commission is the TTC’s board of directors. It oversees matters of policy and planning, building, maintaining and operating the TTC system and expanding its services and facilities.

Commissioners include City of Toronto councillors and members of the public.

During this special meeting of the board, commissioners will discuss the TTC’s 2017 operating and capital budgets.

Among other recommendations, TTC staff are proposing to raise fares by ten cents per ride to help meet the TTC’s financial needs over the next year. The fare increase applies to tokens, passes and PRESTO costs. It does not apply to the cash fare, which would remain at $3.25 for adult passengers.

During the meeting, the commissioners discuss just three items:

  • the 2017 TTC and WheelTrans Operating Budgets. (You can read the staff report here. (.pdf))
  • the 2017 - 2026 TTC Capital Budget. (You can read the staff report here. (.pdf))
  • the Federal Public Transit Infrastructure Fund (PTIF). (You can read the staff report here. (.pdf))

Toronto Transit Commission meetings are public meetings — anyone may attend.
