Dundas / Dufferin concrete repairs:
TTC detours, December 10, 11

TTC crews are repairing the concrete on the streetcar tracks at the intersection of Dundas Street West and Dufferin Street Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11. This essential work will return the track area to a state of good repair for all road users.

To minimize disrupting the neighbourhood whenever it repairs tracks, the TTC recently acquired a concrete milling machine. The device reduces the amount of excavating with a backhoe, in turn, reducing noise levels. However, crews may still have to chip some concrete during this project.

To create a safe work zone and maintain through traffic in all directions at the intersection, crews may temporarily block traffic lanes or prevent motorists from turning. The work may also temporarily prevent pedestrians from crossing from one side of the street, but the opposite side will be available for crossing.

From 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, crews will mill and break the concrete, remove the residue and place new concrete.

To make sure that regular streetcar service may resume Monday, December 12 morning, the crews may work later than 9 p.m.

The new concrete will cure until 5 a.m. Monday before traffic can travel over the repaired area.

The TTC is detouring streetcars operating along this route, while the work takes place:

Shuttle buses replace the cars, operating between College and Bathurst Streets.
