Eglinton - Crosstown LRT -- Yonge / Eglinton:
TTC evening and overnight detours March 13 to 18

Update — Thursday, March 16, 3:07 p.m.: The TTC is slightly revising the detour overnight March 17 / March 18 to accommodate City of Toronto watermain construction west of Yonge Street.

eglinton crosstown logo.pngMetrolinx contractors continue building the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line between Mount Dennis and Kennedy.

The contractors successfully removed the cutting head of one of two tunnel-boring machines from an extraction shaft on Eglinton Avenue East at Holly Street — just east of Yonge Street — this morning, Monday, March 13. Removing the cutting face also marks the official end of tunneling for the project to build the Eglinton - Crosstown light rail transit line.

(You can learn more about this move at Urban Toronto.)

Tonight, crews operate a crane to lift the cutting face onto a truck to haul it away to storage. One by one, the contractors will remove all parts of the first tunnel boring machine mornings this week and then load each piece onto a truck the following evening and night.

In this case, a westbound buses operating along the 334 Eglinton East overnight route continues westward along the 332 Eglinton West overnight route after it arrives at Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue. Similarly, eastbound route 332 buses continue eastbound along route 334 after arriving at Yonge and Eglinton.
