DRT revises routes and services, April 10



Durham Region Transit is making mostly minor changes to its services, starting Monday, April 10.

It’s decreasing Monday-to-Friday and Saturday evening service along regular routes in Pickering, Ajax and Whitby and increasing late-night shuttle services from Ajax and Whitby GO Stations.

It’s also revising the path for the 910 Campus Connect route so that buses operate in both directions along Thornton Road North and South between Taunton Road West and Gibb Street in Oshawa.


DRT is revising service along these routes: 101 Bay Ridges, 110 Bay Ridges / Industrial, 103B Glenanna / Strouds, 111 East Pickering, 120 Whites, 216 Harwood North, 219 Ravenscroft, 224 Harwood South / Salem South, 225 Audley North, 226 Westney South, 283 Ajax North late-night shuttle, 284 Ajax South late-night shuttle, 303 Garden, 304 Anderson, 305 Thickson, 308 Whitby Shores, 318 Garden / West Lynde, 385 Whitby late-night shuttle, 416 Kedron, 910 Campus Connect, 922 Bloor / Townline.

Increasing service along routes


283 Ajax North late-night shuttle

Starting Monday, April 10, DRT operates a bus on new trip from Ajax GO Station 11 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. By providing a new trip along the late-night shuttle route, DRT replaces 11 p.m. trips along the regular 216 Harwood North, 219 Ravenscroft and 225 Audley North routes.

284 Ajax South late-night shuttle

Starting Monday, April 10, DRT operates a bus on new trip from Ajax GO Station 11 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. By providing a new trip along the late-night shuttle route, DRT replaces 11 p.m. trips along the regular 224 Harwood South / Salem South and 226 Westney South routes.

223 Bayly

Starting Monday, April 10, DRT introduces new service along Shoal Point Road Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

DRT designates service along Shoal Point as the 223C branch of the route. 223C service replaces some current 223B short-turn trips along the route east of Ajax GO Station.

DRT operates three westbound trips along the 223C branch Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 a.m. Buses start their trips on Shoal Point at Wilkie Court, then proceed:

southward along Shoal Point;
eastward along Ashbury Boulevard;
northward along Audley Road South;
westward along Bayly Streets East and West;
northward along Westney Road South; and then
westward along Fairall Street into Ajax GO Station bus terminal,
ending their trips at 6:50, 7:20 and 7:51 a.m.

DRT operates three eastbound buses along the branch during afternoon rush hours. The buses reverse the westbound routing. They leave Ajax GO Station at 5, 5:30 and 5:55 p.m. They end their trips on Shoal Point across from Wilks at 5:22, 5:52 and 6:17 p.m.

DRT is also adjusting the schedules for buses operating along the route and making another change to service along the route.

910 Campus Connect

Starting Monday, April 10, DRT is revising the path for buses operating along the route.

Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops

  • on Taunton Road West at Somerville and Patton Streets, beside #418 Taunton West, at Stevenson Road North and across from Keith Ross Court (Buses operating along the 915 Taunton route also serve these stops) and
  • on Thornton Road North south of Taunton Road West, Dryden Boulevard and Deer Valley Drive and at Cartref Avenue and Rossland Road West (Buses operating along the 409 Thornton / Stevenson route also serve these stops).

Northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops

  • on Taunton Road West west of Thornton Road North, at Keith Ross Court and Airport Boulevard, beside #389 Taunton West, west of Northbrook Street and at Somerville Street (Buses operating along the 915 Taunton route also serve these stops).

Buses will also serve new stops northbound on Thornton Road North between Rossland and Taunton Roads West, but DRT has not yet announced the location of those stops.

DRT is also decreasing service along the route.

110B Finch West

Starting Sunday, April 16, DRT operates buses on new west- and eastbound trips along the route Sundays and holiday.

The westbound buses leave Pickering Parkway Terminal at 7:05 and 8:05 a.m. They end their trips on Altona Road south of Sheppard Avenue at 7:41 and 8:41 a.m. The eastbound buses leave Whites Road north of Kingston Road at 7:36 and 8:36 a.m. They end their trips in Pickering Parkway Terminal at 7:58 and 8:58 a.m.

303 Garden

Starting Monday, April 10, DRT operates a bus on a later trip from Whitby GO Station at 7:40 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. The bus returns to the station at 8:15 p.m.

385 Whitby late-night shuttle

Starting Monday, April 10, DRT operates a bus on new trip from Whitby GO Station 11 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. By providing a new trip along the late-night shuttle route, DRT replaces 11 p.m. trips along the regular 304 Anderson, 305 Thickson and 308 Whitby Shores routes.

304 Anderson

Friday, April 7 is the last evening that DRT operates the bus that usually leaves Whitby GO Station at 11 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Instead, starting Monday, April 10, DRT provides earlier service along the 385 Whitby late-night shuttle route from Whitby GO Station.

225 Audley North

Friday, April 7 is the last evening that DRT operates the bus that usually leaves Ajax GO Station at 11 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Instead, starting Monday, April 10, DRT provides earlier service along the 283 Ajax North late-night shuttle route from Ajax GO Station.\

922 Bloor / Townline

Friday, April 7 is the last day that DRT provides service along the route between Harmony Terminal and Nash Road Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. or after 7:30 p.m.

910 Campus Connect

Friday, April 7 is the last day until September that DRT operates buses along the 910B and 910C branches of the route. (Buses serving the 910B branch operate north of Oshawa Centre Terminal only. Buses serving the 910C branch operate along Thickson Road and Burns Street East, instead of Champlain Avenue, Stevenson Road South and Gibb Street and do not operate to and from Durham College’s Whitby campus or Oshawa Centre Terminal.)

It’s also the last day until September that DRT operates the southbound buses that usually leave the North Oshawa campuses of Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology - UOIT at 7:30, 8 and 8:30 a.m. and 3:30, 4, 4:30, 5:05 and 5:35 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. (The buses usually end their trips in Whitby GO Station bus terminal at 8:07, 8:37 and 9:07 a.m.)

And, it’s the last day until September that DRT operates the northbound buses that usually leave Whitby GO Station at 7:05 and 7:35 a.m. and 2:45, 3:15, 3:45, 4:15, 4:45, 5:15 and 5:45 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips on the Durham / UOIT campuses at 7:43 and 8:13 a.m. and 3:23, 3:53, 4:22, 4:53, 5:22, 5:53 and 6:22 p.m.)

Full service along all branches of the route resumes Tuesday, September 3.

Starting Monday, April 10, DRT is also revising the path for buses operating along the route.

  • on Simcoe Street North south of Russett Avenue, at Orchard View Boulevard, Beatrice Street West, south of Sunset Drive, at Switzer Drive, across Darcy Street and at Jones Avenue (DRT buses operating along the 401 Simcoe route continue to serve these stops),
  • on Rossland Road West at Carnegie Avenue and Osler Street, west of Glencairn Street, at Gibbons Street, Fernhill Boulevard and west of Stevenson Road North and Waverly Street North (Buses operating along the 916 Rossland route continue to serve these stops).

Northbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Rossland Road West at Waverly Street North and Stevenson Road North, east of Fernhill Boulevard, at Gibbons Street, east of Park Road North and at Christie Avenue (Buses operating along the 916 Rossland route continue to serve these stops) and
  • on Simcoe Street North north of Rossland Road East, at Darcy and Robert Streets, across from Sunset Drive, at Beatrice Street East, across from Byng Avenue and Orchard View Boulevard and south of Taunton Road East (Buses operating along the 401 Simcoe route continue to serve these stops).

Friday, April 7 is the last day that DRT provides service along the route Mondays to Fridays after 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 8 is the last day it provides service after Saturdays after 7:30 p.m.

416 Kedron

Friday, April 7 is the last day until September that DRT operates the westbound buses that usually leave Harmony Terminal at 7:30 , 8 and 8:30 a.m. and 3:30, 4, 4:30, 5 and 5:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. (The buses usually end their trips on the North Oshawa campuses of Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology - UOIT at 7:44, 8:14 and 8:44 a.m. and 3:44, 4:14, 4:44, 5:14 and 5:44 p.m.)

It’s also the last day until September that DRT operates the eastbound buses that usually leave Durham College / UOIT at 7:55 a.m. and 3:10, 3:45, 4:15, 4:45, 5:15 and 5:45 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Harmony Terminal at 8:08 a.m. and 3:25, 4, 4:30, 5, 5:30 and 6 p.m.)

Full service along the route resumes Tuesday, September 3.

Decreasing the frequency of service along a route


111 East Pickering

Starting Monday, April 10, DRT provides less frequent service along the route Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Starting Saturday, April 15, it provides less frequent service Saturdays.

Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every hour, instead of every 30 minutes, Monday-to-Friday midday and Saturdays.

DRT is also decreasing service along the route.

Revising the path for buses operating along a route


910 Campus Connect

Starting Monday, April 10, DRT revises the path for buses operating along the route.

Southbound buses operate along their regular route to Simcoe Street North and Taunton Road, then proceed:

westward along Taunton West; and then
southward along Thornton Road North to Rossland Road North,
resuming their usual route southward along Thornton North.

Southbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at stops

Adjusting the schedules for buses operating along routes


223 Bayly

Since DRT is increasing service and making other changes to service along the route, it’s making minor schedule changes for most trips every day.

101 Bay Ridges

Starting Monday, April 10, the buses that usually leave Pickering GO Station at 8, 9 and 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, leave, instead, 25 minutes earlier at 7:35, 8:35 and 9:35 p.m. The buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route as much as 25 minutes earlier than usually. They return to the station at 7:57, 8:57 and 9:57 p.m.

217 Monarch

Starting Monday, April 10, the northbound bus that usually leaves Pickering Beach Road south of Beachview Street at 6:16 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, leaves, instead, four minutes later at 6:20 p.m. The bus drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route as much as four minutes later than usually. It ends its trip in Ajax GO Station bus terminal at 6:35 p.m.

120 Whites

Starting Monday, April 10, the southbound buses that usually leave Sunbird Loop at 8:27, 9:27 and 10:27 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, leave, instead, seven minutes earlier at 8:20, 9:20 and 10:20 p.m. The buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route as much as seven minutes earlier than usually. They end their trips in Pickering GO Station bus terminal at 8:34, 9:34 and 10:34 p.m.

The northbound bus that usually leaves Pickering GO Station at 8:12 p.m. leaves, instead, seven minutes earlier at 8:05 p.m. The bus drops off or pick up passengers at stops along the route as much as seven minutes earlier than usually. It ends its trip in Sunbird Loop at 8:20 p.m.

Making other changes to service along routes


223 Bayly

Starting Monday, April 10, buses start and end their trips at the west end of their route on Glenanna Road across from The Esplanade, instead of in Pickering Parkway Terminal.

DRT is adjusting the schedules for buses operating along the route to accommodate this change.

It’s also increasing service along the route.
