501P Queen / Park Lawn bus

Starting Sunday, May 7, the TTC introduces this new shuttle-bus route to replace regular 501 Queen streetcar service during ongoing and upcoming construction.

Westbound buses operate along the regular 501 Queen streetcar route between Neville Park Loop and The Queensway / Windermere Avenue, then proceed:

westward along The Queensway;
southward along Park Lawn Road and Marine Parade Drive; and then
eastward into Park Lawn Loop,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses serve stops

• on The Queensway at South Kingsway, across from #120 Queensway and at High Street, Stephen Drive and Aldgate Avenue,
• on Park Lawn Road south of The Queensway, beside #133 Park Lawn, at the eastbound off-ramp from the Frederick G. Gardiner Expressway, beside #88 Park Lawn and at Lake Shore Boulevard West and

315 Evans - Brown’s Line overnight

During upcoming construction to install an elevator and improve accessibility at Royal York Station, the TTC is closing the bus terminal.

During the construction, buses start and end their trips in Islington Station bus terminal.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops

• on Bloor Street West west of Royal York Road, at Montgomery Road and Gardenvale and Islington Avenues and west of Islington Avenue.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops

• on Bloor Street West at Islington Avenue, east of Eagle Road and Thompson Avenue and at Royal York Road.

121 Fort York - Esplanade

Since more passengers travel to and from Cherry Beach during spring and summer, the TTC is operating one more bus along the route to extend service to the beach at all times of the week.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new spring and summer stops

• in Cherry Beach Loop and
• on Cherry Street north of Unwin Avenue, across from Polson Street and and at Commissioners and Villiers Streets and Lake Shore Boulevard East.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new spring and summer stops

Starting Monday, May 8, the TTC again operates streetcars along the route, instead of buses, Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

Due to ongoing construction on Wellington Streets East and West, the TTC is detouring the cars off that street.

Starting Monday, May 7, the TTC operates extra buses on six trips in each direction (instead of four) between The Queensway and Bloor Street West Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours.

Since more people travel to and from the Toronto Zoo during spring and summer, the TTC operates buses along the 86A branch of the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

The Zoo closes later - at 7 p.m. during spring and summer.

The TTC is operating later service along the branch to match to later closing time. The last buses leave the Zoo at about 8 p.m. every day.

85 Sheppard East

The Toronto Zoo is closing later — at 7 p.m. — during spring and summer.

The TTC is operating later service along the 85D and 85F branches of the route to match to later closing time. The last buses leave the Zoo at about 8 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

165 Weston Rd North

The TTC is extending the path for buses operating along the route to Canada’s Wonderland weekends during spring, summer and early fall. Buses start and end their trips in Wonderland Loop instead of Major Mackenzie / Highway 400 Loop.

It’s also increasing the hours of service, so that buses operate Sunday and holiday evenings north of Steeles Avenue West. The last bus leaves Wonderland at about 10 p.m.

The TTC is also increasing and decreasing the frequency of service and making another change to service along the route.

191 Highway 27 rocket

Fewer passengers travel to and from Humber College’s North campus during spring and summer. The TTC’s cancelling service along the 191A short-turn branch between Humber College Terminal and Kipling Station Monday-to-Friday mornings.

Specifically, the northbound buses that usually leave Kipling at 8:50, 9:10, 9:30, 9:50, 10:10 and 10:30 a.m. do not operate. The southbound buses that usually leave Humber at 9:27, 9:44, 10:04, and 10:24 a.m do not operate.

Spring / summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 5.

The TTC is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

503 Kingston Rd

Starting Monday, May 8, the TTC again operates streetcars along the route, instead of buses, Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

Due to ongoing construction on Wellington Streets East and West, the TTC is detouring the cars off that street.

• on York Street at King Street East.

It no longer interlines these buses at Eglinton Station with those operating along the 56 Leaside route evenings. This results in more frequent service along the route.

Starting Sunday, May 7, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

• every 20 minutes, instead of every 30 minutes, Sundays and holidays after about 7 p.m.

Starting Monday, May 8, buses serve passengers at stops:

61 Avenue Rd North

506 Carlton

The TTC is decreasing the running time — the time it schedules for drivers to complete a round trip along the route. Originally, it revised the schedules in March to maintain service reliability during an upcoming project to install new overhead wiring on Gerrard Street East. However, it postponed the project, so it’s restoring service to their pre-March levels.

By decreasing the running time, the TTC also increases the frequency of service along the route at various times of the week.

Starting Sunday, May 7, streetcars drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

• every 8 minutes, instead of every 8 minutes 15 seconds, Sundays and holidays from about noon until 7 p.m.

Starting Monday, May 8, the cars serve passengers at stops along the route:

By increasing the frequency of service along the 34C branch, the TTC also increases the frequency of service along the entire route west of Don Mills Road.

The TTC is decreasing the running time — the time it schedules for drivers to complete a round trip along the route. Originally, it revised the schedules in March to maintain service reliability during an upcoming City of Toronto construction project that would have resulted in the TTC diverting streetcars serving the 501 Queen route along Spadina Avenue. (This extra number of streetcars on Spadina would have delayed regular service along that street.) However, the City postponed the project, so the TTC is restoring service to their pre-March levels.

The TTC is decreasing the running time — the time it schedules for drivers to complete a round trip along the route. By increasing the running time, the TTC also increases the frequency of service along the route at various times of the week.

Since more passengers travel along the route when Canada’s Wonderland is open, the TTC is also increasing the frequency of service along the route.

• every 12 minutes, instead of every 10 minutes.

165 Weston Rd North

The TTC is extending the path for buses operating along the route to Canada’s Wonderland weekends during spring, summer and early fall. Buses start and end their trips in Wonderland Loop instead of Major Mackenzie / Highway 400 Loop.

Since more passengers travel along the route when Canada’s Wonderland is open, the TTC is generally increasing the frequency of service along the route. However, it’s also decreasing the frequency during one time period.

Starting Saturday, May 6, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops north of Steeles Avenue West:

• every 42 minutes, instead of every 28 minutes, Saturdays from about 3 until 7 p.m.

TTC service to and from Canada’s Wonderland ends Sunday, October 29.

The TTC is also increasing the hours of service, decreasing the frequency of service and making another change to service along the route.

Since more passengers travel to and from Cherry Beach during spring and summer, the TTC is operating one more bus along the route to extend service to the beach at all times of the week.

Starting Sunday, May 8, westbound buses start their trips in Cherry Beach Loop, then proceed:

northward along Cherry to Mill Street,
resuming their regular route westward along Mill.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

• in Cherry Beach Loop and
• on Cherry Street north of Unwin Avenue, across from Polson Street and and at Commissioners and Villiers Streets and Lake Shore Boulevard East.

Eastbound buses operate along the usual route to Cherry and Mill Streets, then proceed:

southward along Cherry to Cherry Beach Loop,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

• on Cherry Street south of Mill Street and Lake Shore Boulevard East, across from Villiers and Commissioners Streets, south of Polson Street and at Unwin Avenue and
• in Cherry Beach Loop.

To accommodate the longer trips to and from Cherry Beach, the TTC is decreasing the frequency of service along the route. It’s also making another change to service along the route.

503 Kingston Rd

Starting Monday, May 8, the TTC again operates streetcars along the route, instead of buses, Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

Due to ongoing construction on Wellington Streets East and West, the TTC is detouring the cars off that street.

Mondays to Fridays during rush hours, starting Monday, May 8, eastbound cars start their trips in Charlotte Loop — on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street, then proceed:

southward along Charlotte; and then
eastward along King Street West to York Street,
resuming their regular route eastward along King West.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

• on Wellington Street West at York Street and
• on York Street at King Street East.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

• on Charlotte Street at Oxley Street and King Street West and
• on King Street West at Blue Jays Way, John Street and University Avenue.

Westbound cars operate along their regular route to King Street East and Church Street, then detour:

westward along King Streets East and West;
northward along Spadina Avenue;
eastward along Adelaide Street West; and then
southward along Charlotte Street to Oxley Street,
ending their trips.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

• on Church Street at Wellington Street East,
• on Wellington Street East at Yonge Street and
• on Wellington Street West at Bay and York Streets.

Instead, westbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

• on King Street East at Yonge Street,

The TTC is replacing streetcars with buses along the entire route between Neville Park and Long Branch loops, to accommodate various construction projects.

Buses operate along two routes:

• 501L Queen / Long Branch — between Neville Park and Long Branch Loops; and
• 501P Queen / Park Lawn — between Neville Park and Park Lawn Loops (on the southwest corner of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Marine Parade Drive.)

Since buses carry fewer passengers than streetcars, the TTC is generally increasing the frequency of service along the route. However, it’s also decreasing the frequency along parts of the route at other times of the week.

501L Queen / Long Branch bus

Starting Monday, May 8, the TTC adjusts the schedules for buses operating on two round trips along the route Monday-to-Friday afternoons.

The buses leave Adelaide Street West west of Simcoe Street at 4:09 and 4:34 p.m. They arrive on Queen Street East west of Woodbine Avenue at 4:39 and 4:55 p.m. They leave Neville Park Loop for the return trip at 4:35 and 5 p.m.

5 Avenue Rd

To maintain the reliability of service during ongoing construction of the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line on Eglinton Avenue West, the TTC is adjusting the schedules for buses operating along the route.

It no longer interlines these buses at Eglinton Station with those operating along the 56 Leaside route evenings. This results in more frequent service along the route.

61 Avenue Rd North

To maintain the reliability of service during ongoing construction of the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line on Eglinton Avenue West, the TTC is adjusting the schedules for buses operating along the route.

It no longer interlines these buses at Eglinton Station with those operating along the 51 Leslie route late evenings. This results in more frequent service along the route.

511 Bathurst

The TTC is resuming streetcar service along the entire route between Bathurst Station and Exhibition Loop.

Since the TTC is temporarily replacing streetcars with buses along the entire 501 Queen route, it has enough articulated light rail vehicles (ALRVs) available to support service along the route. Since more passengers travel to and from Exhibition Place and the central waterfront during spring and summer, the TTC usually assigns the larger, bending cars to the route during these seasons.

The TTC may also operate its newest cars, the Toronto Flexity low-floor streetcars along the 511 Bathurst route this summer.

Since streetcars carry more passengers than streetcars, the TTC is generally decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

514 Cherry

The TTC is operating only Toronto Flexity low-floor-streetcars along the route. Streetcars serving the route are all accessible to passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility devices or with mobility restrictions.

Since the low-floor streetcars carry more passengers than regular streetcars, the TTC is decreasing the frequency of service along the route at certain times of the week.

15 Evans

During upcoming construction to install an elevator and improve accessibility at Royal York Station, the TTC is closing the bus terminal. Buses drop off or pick up passengers on Royal York Road north of Bloor Street West.

It’s also interlining buses operating along this route with those operating along the 48 Rathburn route. By interlining the routes, the TTC increases the frequency of service Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

121 Fort York - Esplanade

Since more passengers travel to and from Cherry Beach during spring and summer, the TTC is operating one more bus along the route to extend service to the beach at all times of the week.

The TTC designates service to the beach as operating along the 121C branch. Service along that branch replaces regular service along the 121A branch during spring and summer. (The TTC designates buses ending their trips at Cherry and Mill Streets in the Distillery District as operating along the 121A branch.)

To accommodate the longer trips to and from Cherry Beach, the TTC is decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

Starting Monday, May 8, the TTC operates only streetcars, instead of mixing buses and streetcars, along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

During morning rush hours, the TTC currently operates:

• 33 standard Canadian light rail vehicles (CLRVs) along the entire route;
• 4 extra CLRVs only between Dundas West Station and Queen Street East / Broadview Avenue; and
• 11 buses only between Dundas West Station and Queen East / Broadview.

During afternoon rush hours, the TTC currently operates:

• 33 CLRVs along the entire route;
• 5 extra CLRVs only between Dundas West Station and Queen East / Broadview; and
• 5 buses only between Dundas West Station and Queen East / Broadview.

During morning rush hours, starting Monday, the TTC operates

• 33 CLRVs along the entire route;
• 10 articulated light rail vehicles (ALRVs) only between Sunnyside Loop and Queen East / Broadview.

During afternoon rush hours, starting Monday, the TTC operates

• 33 CLRVs along the entire route;
• 7 articulated light rail vehicles (ALRVs) only between Sunnyside Loop and Queen East / Broadview.

503 Kingston Rd

Starting Monday, May 8, the TTC again operates streetcars along the route, instead of buses, Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

Streetcars continue to pick up passengers at stops along the route:

• every 12 minutes.

Together with buses operating along the 502 Downtowner route, the cars pick up or drop off passengers at stops on Kingston Road west of Victoria Park Avenue during rush hours:

• every 6 minutes.

Due to ongoing construction on Wellington Streets East and West, the TTC is detouring the cars off that street.

It’s reassigning the cars that usually operate along the route to other TTC routes, including:

• 503 Kingston Rd — replacing buses Mondays to Fridays during rush hours;
• 504 King — replacing buses Mondays to Fridays during rush hours; and
• 511 Bathurst — replacing buses at all times of the week, except overnight.

Buses operate along two routes, starting May 7:

• 501L Queen / Long Branch — between Neville Park and Long Branch Loops; and
• 501P Queen / Park Lawn — between Neville Park and Park Lawn Loops (on the southwest corner of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Marine Parade Drive.)

The TTC usually operates as many as 31 cars along the 501 Queen route Mondays to Fridays during afternoon rush hours.

It’s operating 34 buses along the 501L route and 28 buses along the 501P route during afternoon rush hours.

It’s also increasing the hours of service, so that buses operate Sunday and holiday evenings north of Steeles Avenue West. The last bus leaves Wonderland at about 10 p.m.

The TTC designates service to Wonderland as operating along the 165C branch. Service along that branch replaces regular service along the 165A branch Saturdays, Sundays and holidays during spring, summer and early fall. (The TTC designates buses ending their trips in the Major Mackenzie / Highway 400 Loop as operating along the 165A branch.)

Service to Canada’s Wonderland ends Sunday, October 29.

The TTC is also increasing and decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

1 Yonge - University subway

Starting Sunday, May 7, the TTC renames the current Downsview Station as “Sheppard West” Station. The new name avoids confusion with the future Downsview Park Station on the line’s extension northwestward to York University and Vaughan.

Downsview Park will be the next station north of Sheppard West.
