Main North Markham / Robinson construction:
TTC detour starts June 7

Wednesday, May 7, the City of Markham is closing

  • Main Street North, northbound lanes, between Bullock Drive / Parkway Avenue and Highway 7

Mondays to Fridays only, as contractors start a project to repair the roadway at Robinson Street.

The TTC is detouring buses operating along this route, while the lanes are closed:

Construction on Main Street North and the TTC detour continue until June 23.


During this project, construction crews are:

  • removing interlocking stone and asphalt in the intersection;
  • repairing the underlying road base structure;
  • placing new base and surface course asphalt; and
  • creating new crosswalks in with impressed asphalt, matching the colour of the interlocking stone at Main Street South and Centre Street.

Southbound buses operate along their regular route.

Mondays to Fridays only from Wednesday, June 7 until Friday, June 23, northbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street South and Highway 7, then detour:

eastward along Highway 7;
northward along Wooten Way North; and then
westward along Parkway Avenue to Main North,
resuming their regular route northward along Main.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street North Markham across from Bruce Thompson Court and at Robinson Street and Parkway Avenue.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Highway 7 at Cosburn Road and Christman Court,
  • on Wooten Way North at Lindenlea and Church Streets and across from Parkway Avenue and
  • on Parkway Avenue west of Sir Bodwin Place, at Sir Constantine Drive, west of Sir Bedevere Place, at Paramount Road, west of Orchard Street and at Main Street North.
