Toronto Transit Commission meets, June 15

The Toronto Transit Commission meets this Thursday, June 15 at 1 p.m. in Committee Room 2, City Hall, 100 Queen Street West.

The commission is the TTC’s board of directors. It oversees matters of policy and planning, building, maintaining and operating the TTC system and expanding its services and facilities.

Commissioners include City of Toronto councillors and members of the public.

During the meeting, the commissioners will discuss, among other items, staff reports recommending the Commission approve:

  • expanding the express bus-route network. (You can read the report, here. (.pdf))
  • building an entrance from Dundonald Street into Wellesley Station with a private developer supporting all costs. (You can read the report, here. (.pdf))
  • revising the TTC’s policy on whether or not to accept advertising on vehicles and property. (You can read the report here. (.pdf))
  • revising TTC requirements on the amount of Canadian content in transit vehicles. (You can read the report here. (.pdf))

The commission also will consider:

  • the Chief Executive Officer’s report for June 2017. (You can read the report here. (.pdf))
  • a request from Commissioner Minnan-Wong that staff report on the operating costs for the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line. (You can read the request here. (.pdf))
  • a request from Commissioner Mihevc that staff report on strategies to reduce the pressure on the Yonge branch of the Line 1 Yonge - University subway until the Relief Line opens. (You can read his request here. (.pdf))

The Commission will also consider a staff report on the King Street pilot project to improve streetcar service, but the report isn’t yet available.
