DRT revises services, June 26



Durham Region Transit is making mostly minor changes to its services, starting Monday, June 26.

The big news is this: Next Saturday, July 2, DRT introduces Saturday service along the 950 Reach / Simcoe North route, providing six-days-a-week local transit service to Uxbridge and Port Perry for the first time.


DRT is revising service along these routes: 103 Glenanna, 215 Salem North, 223 Bayly, 401 Simcoe, 915 Taunton, 916 Rossland, 950 Reach / Simcoe North.

Specifically, DRT is: increasing service along routes: decreasing service along a route; decreasing the frequency of service along a route; and adjusting the schedules of buses operating along routes.

Increasing service along routes


223 Bayly

Starting Monday, June 26, DRT operates a bus on a new eastbound trip along the route early Monday-to-Friday mornings.

The bus leaves Glenanna Road across from The Esplanade in Pickering at 5 a.m. It ends its trip in Ajax GO Station bus terminal at 5:15 a.m.

950 Reach / Simcoe North

Starting Saturday, July 8, DRT introduces Saturday service along the route.

Southbound buses leave Wellwood Drive east of Toronto Street South in Uxbridge at 8:20 and 10:40 a.m. and 1, 3:20 and 5:40 p.m. Saturdays. They end their trips on the North Oshawa campuses of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) and Durham College at 9:25 and 11:45 a.m. and 2:05, 4:25 and 6:45 p.m.

Northbound buses leave UOIT / Durham College at 9:30 and 11:50 a.m. and 2:10, 4:30 and 6:50 p.m. They end their trips in Uxbridge at 10:35 a.m. and 12:55, 3:15, 5:35 and 7:55 p.m.

An extra early-morning bus leaves Port Perry Terminal - on Curts Street east of Water Street - at 7:38 a.m. It ends its trip in Uxbridge at 8:15 a.m.

Decreasing service along a route


215 Salem North

Friday, June 22 was the last day until September that DRT operates the northbound bus that usually leaves Ajax GO Station at 8:20 a.m. (It usually ends its trip on Salem Road North north of Kingston Road East at 8:32 a.m.)

Summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 5.

Decreasing the frequency of service along a route


915 Taunton

Starting Monday, June 26, DRT decreases the frequency of service along the route during the summer.

Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops:

  • every 30 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 5.

Adjusting the schedules of buses operating along routes

103 Glenanna

DRT is adjusting the schedules of the route to improve service for passengers connecting with buses operating along other DRT routes at Pickering Parkway Terminal or GO Transit trains at Rouge Hill GO Station.

Starting Monday, June 26, the eastbound bus that usually leaves Rouge Hill GO Station at 6:15 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, five minutes earlier at 6:10 a.m. It drops off or picks up passengers at stops along the route as much as five minutes earlier than usually. It ends its trip on Pickering Parkway at 6:40 a.m.

The buses that usually leave Rouge Hill at 6:50 and 7:20 a.m. leave, instead, ten minutes earlier at 6:40 and 7:10 a.m. They end their trips on Pickering Parkway at 7:10 and 7:40 a.m. The bus that usually leaves Rouge Hill at 7:45 a.m. leaves, instead, five minutes earlier at 7:40 a.m. It ends its trip on Pickering Parkway at 8:10 a.m. And, the bus that usually leaves Rouge Hill at 8:20 a.m. leaves, instead, ten minutes earlier at 8:10 a.m. It ends its trip on Pickering Parkway at 8:40 a.m.

916 Rossland

Starting Monday, June 26, DRT adjusts the schedules to accommodate a longer trip along the route during construction on Rossland Road between Cochrane Street in Whitby and Audley Road North in Ajax.

Starting Monday, June 26, DRT adjusts the schedules for buses operating along the 401B short-turn branch of the route between the North Oshawa campuses of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) / Durham College and downtown Oshawa.
