York Region Transit is making mostly minor changes to its services, starting Sunday, July 2.
(For YRT this month, the big news results from raising fares, eliminating fare zones and switching to “paperless” fares.)

Specifically, YRT is: introducing a new service; increasing services; decreasing service along routes; increasing the frequency of service along routes; decreasing the frequency of service along routes; revising the paths for buses operating along routes; revising seasonal services; cancelling extra service to and from high schools; adjusting the schedules for buses operating along routes; and making another change to service along a route.
Introducing a new service
Dial-a-Ride Sutton - Pefferlaw
Starting Sunday, July 2, YRT introduces new dial-a-ride service to replace conventional transit between Pefferlaw and Sutton Saturdays, Sundays and holidays along the former 50A branch of the 50 Queensway route.
YRT- / Viva-marked Dial-a-Ride Sutton - Pefferlaw vehicles serve current YRT stops along Highway 48, Pefferlaw Road and Lake Ridge Road and two new stops at the Virginia Beach Ferry Docks and on Black River Road at Dalton Road (stop 6449).
The service is available Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 8 a.m. until 7:45 p.m.

You can ask the driver to stop the vehicle to pick you up or drop you off at these stops:

Dial-a-Ride North
Starting Tuesday, July 4, it expands Dial-A-Ride North to include longer hours Mondays to Fridays from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.
By increasing the hours of service, YRT effectively replaces conventional service between Pefferlaw and Sutton along the 50A branch of the 50 Queensway route.
Dial-a-Ride North is an on-request service in the Towns of East Gwillimbury and Georgina. It connects passengers to public transit and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. DAR North serves a predetermined geographic area for fixed addresses that exceed walking distance from conventional public transit service.

77 Highway 7
Starting Sunday, July 2, eastbound buses enter service on Centre Street east of Dufferin Street, instead of Promenade Terminal early mornings.
Westbound buses enter service on Centre Street west of Dufferin, instead of Highway 7 east of Jane Street.

Starting Monday, July 3, YRT revises the path so that buses serve eastern Mount Albert and a new subdivision in western Sharon.

From Tuesday, July 4 until Friday, September 1, YRT resumes service along the route Mondays to Fridays.
Southbound buses leave Wonderland Terminal at 10:11 a.m. Mondays to Fridays and every hour until 10:11 p.m. They end their trips in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 10:58 and 11:58 a.m., 1:02 p.m., 1:58 p.m. and every hour until 4:58 p.m., 6:01 and 7:01 p.m., 7:55 p.m. and every hour until 9:55 p.m. and 10:58 p.m.
Northbound buses leave Finch at 9:14 a.m. and every hour until 9:14 p.m. They end their trips in Wonderland Terminal at 10 and 11 a.m., 12:02 p.m. and every hour until 6:02 p.m., 7:01 p.m. and every hour until 10:01 p.m.
With this change, YRT operates buses along the entire route every day.
YRT is also increasing the frequency of service along the route.

Friday, June 30 was the last day that YRT operated the eastbound buses that usually leave Promenade Terminal at 4:23 and 4:38 a.m. (The buses usually ended their trips in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 4:38 and 4:53 a.m.)

YRT is permanently cancelling service on this trip as part of the 33 Wellington schedules. Starting Tuesday, September 5, a new YRT high-school special service replaces this trip.

9 Ninth Line
YRT is revising the path so that buses operating along the route serve the subdivision south of 14th Avenue on Box Grove Bypass and Riverwalk Drive. YRT is removing all service along Rizal Avenue and cancelling service on this route along Copper Creek Drive.
Southbound buses operate along their usual route to Box Grove Bypass and Rizal Avenue, then proceed:
southward along Box Grove,
westward along Riverwalk Drive,
northward along Ninth Line,
eastward along 14th Avenue, and then
northward along Box Grove to Oakborough Drive,
ending their trips.Southbound buses no longer serve stops
- on Rizal Avenue east of Box Grove Bypass and across from Boswell Road and Oakborough Drive and
- on Copper Creek Drive across from Boswell Road and east of Box Grove Bypass (across from Box Grove Plaza).
(YRT has cancelled all service on Rizal. Buses operating along the 2 Milliken route continue to serve the stops on Copper Creek.)
Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops
- on Box Grove Bypass across from Rizal Avenue, at 14th Avenue and north of Riverwalk Drive,
- on Riverwalk Drive across from Caprara Crescent and at Barter Street and Ninth Line,
- on Ninth Line at 14th Avenue and
- on Box Grove Bypass at Rizal Avenue and Oakborough Drive.
Northbound buses start their trips on Box Grove Bypass at Oakborough Drive, then proceed:
northward along Box Grove to Copper Creek Drive,
resuming their usual route northward along Box Grove.Northbound buses no longer serve the stop
- on Copper Creek Drive east of Box Grove Bypass (across from Box Grove Plaza).
(YRT buses operating along the 2 Milliken route continue to serve the stop.)
Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops
- on Box Grove Bypass at Oakborough and Copper Creek Drives.

Wednesday, June 28 was the last day that YRT operated the westbound bus that usually leaves St. John’s Sideroad East west of Earl Stewart Drive at 7:40 a.m. Monday-to-Friday school days. (The bus skips Aurora GO Station and ends its trip on Wellington Street West east of McDonald Drive - across from Aurora High School - at 7:55 a.m.)
YRT is permanently cancelling service on this trip as part of the 33 Wellington schedules. Starting Tuesday, September 5, a new YRT high-school special service replaces this trip.

Making another change to service along a route
360 Newmarket / Beaver Creek express
Starting Canada Day, Saturday, July 1, passenger no longer have to buy a Zone Upgrade, but must pay the Express fare supplement of 50 cents. (YRT eliminates fare zones on the same day.)
