Crews started phase 1 of the project Monday, February 6,

at the intersection of Finch Avenue West at Kipling Avenue

near the site of the future Kipling stop, as crews dig a trench and install the gas line in its new location.

They also occupied a section of the roadway

  • on Finch West east of Kipling.

Phase 1 continued until about June 24.

Crews started phase 2 of the project Thursday, May 18, occupying a section of the roadway

  • on Finch Avenue West west of Islington Avenue,

near the site of the future Islington stop, as crews dig a trench and install the gas line in its new location.

Phase 2 continues until August 31.

From Saturday, August 12 until Sunday, August 20, crews prepare for the final stages of phase 2 by connecting the new gas main to the gas network at Islington Avenue. The work zone remains on Finch West about 40 metres west of Islington Avenue

The City of Toronto is closing

  • Finch Avenue West, eastbound lanes, between Kipling and Islington Avenues

to all traffic to accommodate the work. The work zone also restricts westbound traffic to just one single lane.

Crews mostly work daily from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. Occasionally, they may work late nights or early mornings to complete this phase of the project on time.
