The TTC intends to build a second exit / automatic entrance to Donlands Station. After working with local residents, the TTC identified 17 / 19 Dewhurst Boulevard as the site for the new structure. The Toronto Transit Commission unanimously approved the site during its meeting of February 21.
As a first step in planning the project, contractors started surveying the local area, Monday, March 27.
Next, contractors started locating underground utilities on the streets, sidewalks and front lawns, Monday, June 19.
Now, contractors start drilling boreholes in the area Wednesday, July 26. Boreholes provide information about the underground soil and groundwater conditions near the future second-exit stairwell and elevator. This information helps engineers design the future underground structures. Crews set up small work zones in the borehole areas and use metal plates to cover the holes in the roadway. Crews work about five days at each borehole site.
Construction crews and equipment will be present in the area and trucks and equipment will remain overnight. Expect daytime noise.
Crews may drill boreholes the City’s right-of-way and on private property. Crews may need to use part of your property to access borehole locations.
