Starting Tuesday, August 1, York Region Transit is revisingsome of the dial-a-ride services that it uses to replace conventional transit service during hours when fewer passengers require the services.
Generally, YRT is separating the dial-a-ride services from the regular bus routes that they replace. It’s also revising the hours of service and extending the necessary length of time for booking a ride before a trip.

For all dial-a-ride services, call 1-844-667-5327 at least 60 minutes before your trip (not 30 minutes) during dial-a-ride hours. Customer Service Representatives will provide you with the best available trip plan. You may have to wait as long as 60 minutes to allow the dial-a-ride driver to complete other trips. Dial-a-Ride operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
YRT-marked accessible vans pick you up at a bus stop in the service area. Each van accommodates four passengers, including one passenger using a mobility aid (such as a wheelchair). You can ask the driver to drop you off at any other bus stop in the service area.
Regular YRT fares apply. Drivers accept all YRT/Viva fare media, including PRESTO cards, tickets, passes, YRT / Viva Pay and exact change. YRT/Viva transfers are available so you can connect to other YRT or Viva buses. (Before August 1, you couldn’t use PRESTO for dial-a-ride.)
Dial-a-ride is not a door-to-door service, so the van drivers cannot pick you up or drop you off at your home or anywhere outside of the service area.
