Toronto Transit Commission meets, September 5



The Toronto Transit Commission meets Monday, September 5 at 1 p.m. in Committee Room 2, City Hall, 100 Queen Street West.

The commission is the TTC’s board of directors. It oversees matters of policy and planning, building, maintaining and operating the TTC system and expanding its services and facilities.

Commissioners include City of Toronto councillors and members of the public.


During the meeting, the commissioners will discuss, among other items, staff reports recommending the Commission approve:

  • decreasinge the hours of service along the 12A Kingston Road (Victoria Park Stn- Kennedy Stn via Variety Village) route to match the hours of Variety Village. If the Commission approves, the buses would only operate along this branch of the route before 10:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and until 5:30 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The TTC would also revise the path of the 302 McCowan / Kingston Rd overnight route to operate only along Kingston Road between Danforth Avenue and Birchmount Road, instead of serving Variety Village.   • recommending approaches to studying air quality in the subway system. (You can read the staff report here (.pdf).)
  • buying 60 new low-floor Wheel-Trans mini-buses from Creative Carriage Ltd. — Creative Carriage would deliver these vehicles in 2018. (You can read the staff report here (.pdf).)
  • buying 440 new 10-metre (40-foot), low-floor, clean-diesel city buses and capital spares, including engines, transmissions, axles and radiators) from Nova Bus, a Division of Volvo Group Canada Inc. — Nova would deliver these vehicles in 2018 and 2019. The commission also will consider:
