TTC revises routes and services, September 3

After decreasing service during spring and summer, the TTC resumes regular Monday-to-Friday rush-hour service along many of its routes, starting Tuesday, September 3.

It’s also expanding two of its community routes — 400 Lawrence Manor and 404 East York during a nine-month pilot project.

Construction continues to affect service along many TTC routes, with streetcars resuming service along the central portion of the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes.

The TTC continues to suspend service along this route due to Metrolinx construction of the Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line:

Specifically, the TTC is: introducing new temporary routes; cancelling a temporary route; cancelling a seasonal branch of a route; increasing service along routes; decreasing service along routes; increasing the frequency of service along routes; decreasing the frequency of service along routes; revising the paths for buses operating along routes; resuming extra service to and from high schools; adjusting the schedules for buses operating along routes; and making other changes to service along routes.

Introducing new temporary routes

501 Queen / Marine Parade shuttle

Starting Labour Day, Monday, September 4, buses replace streetcars operating along the 501 Queen route between Windermere Avenue and Park Lawn Road.

Eastbound buses start their trips in Park Lawn Loop at the southwest corner of Marine Parade Drive and Lake Shore Boulevard West, then proceed:

northward along Marine Parade and Park Lawn Road; and then
eastward along The Queensway to Windermere Avenue,
ending their trips.

on Park Lawn Road north of Lake Shore Boulevard West, across from #88 Park Lawn and the eastbound off-ramp and the westbound on-ramp for the Frederick G. Gardiner Expressway,

Westbound buses start their trips on Windermere Avenue south of The Queensway, then proceed:

Sunday, September 3 is the last day the TTC operates buses along the route.

The City of Toronto has finished its project to rebuild the sidewalks and install “streetscaping” on Queen Street West between Bathurst Street and Spadina Avenue (for now). Starting Labour Day, Monday, September 4, streetcars resume - but onlybetween Sunnyside Loop and Russell Carhouse, just east of Greenwood Avenue.

The TTC operates shuttle buses along three different routes — one east of Greenwood Avenue and two west of Roncesvalles Avenue to replace the cars at the ends of their regular routes.

East of Greenwood Avenue, buses operate along:

the 301R / 501R Queen / River shuttle-bus route.

West of Roncesvalles Avenue, buses operate along

Cancelling a seasonal branch of a route

30 Lambton

Labour Day, Monday, September 4 is the last day this year that the TTC operates buses along the 30B branch. Buses serving the branch operate beyond High Park Station into High Park Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from about 10 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. — but only during summer.

Resuming service along branches of routes

38A Highland Creek

Starting Tuesday, September 5, the TTC again operates buses along the 38A branch between the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus and Scarborough Centre Station.

The TTC is also increasing the frequency of service west of the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus and decreasing the frequency of service east of the campus.

The TTC is decreasing service since fewer passengers are riding buses operating along the route Monday-to-Friday mornings.

Friday, September 1 is the last day that the TTC operates the eastbound bus that usually left Mill Road loop at 6:15 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. It’s also the last day it operates the westbound buses that usually left Islington Station at 6:35 and 9:25 a.m.

The TTC is also adjusting the schedules for buses operating along the route to eliminate a gap in service resulting from it cancelling these three trips. It’s also increasing the frequency of service along the route during rush hours.

404 East York community bus

Starting Tuesday, September 5, the TTC is extending the path for buses operating along the route from Shoppers World Danforth to Kew Gardens and from Michael Garron (Toronto East General) Hospital to Coxwell Station.

188 Kipling South rocket

The TTC is cancelling one early-evening Monday-to-Friday trip along the route since few passengers were riding the bus that operated the trip.

Friday, September 1 was the last day it operated the northbound bus that usually left Colonel Samuel Smith Park at 7:28 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Starting Tuesday, September 5, the last northbound bus leaves the park at 7:20 p.m.

The TTC is also increasing the frequency of service Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

400 Lawrence Manor community bus

Starting Tuesday, September 5, the TTC is extending the path for buses operating along the route from Lawrence West Station to Humber River Regional Hospital near Keele Street and Wilson Avenue. It’s also removing service from local streets near Bathurst Street and Lawrence Avenue West.

every 8½ minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays before noon;

every 6 minutes, instead of every 7 minutes, from noon until 7:30 p.m.; and

every 8½ minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, from 7:30 p.m. until midnight.

The TTC is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route at another time of the week.

117 Alness

Summer service ends and regular service resumes.

The TTC operates one more bus along the route, increasing the frequency of service Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

The TTC operates more buses along the route, increasing the frequency of service Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

every 32½ minutes, instead of every 34 minutes 45 seconds, during morning rush hours; and

every 30 minutes, instead of every 32 minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

They serve stops south of Steeles Avenue East:

every 6½ minutes, instead of every 8&frac12 minutes, during morning rush hours; and

every 8 minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

2 Bloor - Danforth subway

Summer service ends and regular service resumes.

The TTC operates more trains along the line, increasing the frequency of service Monday-to-Friday daytime.

Starting Tuesday, September 5, trains drop off or pick up passengers at stations along the line:

every 2 minutes 21 seconds, instead of every 2 minutes 39 seconds, during morning rush hours;

every 3 minutes 20 seconds, instead of every 3 minutes 33 seconds, from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; and

every 2 minutes 31 seconds, instead of every 3 minutes 1 second, during afternoon rush hours.

50 Burnhamthorpe

Summer service ends and regular service resumes.

The TTC operates one more bus along the route, increasing the frequency of service Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours.

Tuesday, **September 5, the TTC starts a nine-month pilot project to test ways to enhance service along two of its community bus routes.

During the pilot, buses operate along the routes more frequently and stop at more locations. The pilot aims to increase ridership by providing passengers with more convenient and accessible travel options for getting around their neighbourhood.

The TTC is extending the path for buses operating along the route from Shoppers World Danforth to Kew Gardens and from Michael Garron (Toronto East General) Hospital to Coxwell Station.
