Burlington Transit revises routes and services,
September 3



Starting Sunday, September 3, Burlington Transit is revising service along several routes, it says, “to improve service and schedule accuracy.”


Burlington Transit is revising service along these routes: 2 Brant North, 3 Guelph - Downtown, 6 Headon, 11 Sutton - Alton, 12 Upper Middle, 25 Walkers, 48 Millcroft, 80 Harvester Road.

Specifically, BT is: cancelling a branch of a route; increasing service along routes, decreasing service along routes; increasing the frequency of service along a route; decreasing the frequency of service along routes; revising the path for buses operating along a route; resuming extra service to and from a high school; adjusting the schedules for buses operating along routes; and making other changes to service along routes.

Cancelling a branch of a route


12 Upper Middle

Burlington Transit has cancelled service along the 12X branch of the route.

Friday, August 31 was the last day BT operate buses along the branch, meaning they diverted off of Upper Middle Road to serve the Tansley Woods Community Centre and stops on Itabashi Way Monday-to-Friday midday.

BT is also revising the path for buses operating along the route at all times of the week.

Increasing service along routes


2 Brant North

Starting Tuesday, September 5, BT is increasing service north of Coventry Way / Driftwood Drive so that buses operate to and from the Highway 407 / Dundas Park and Ride carpool lot all day Mondays to Fridays, instead of just during rush hours.

BT is also decreasing service and decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

3 Guelph - Downtown

Burlington Transit is revising the path for buses operating along the route.

Starting Sunday, September 3, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops (for this route):

  • on Appleby Line north of Upper Middle Road, at Dryden Drive, across from Taywood Drive and
  • at Burlington North Smartcentre.

Northbound buses operating along the 15A Appleby - Walkers route also serve the stops on Appleby Line.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a new stop (for ths route):

  • at Burlington North Smartcentre.

Starting Tuesday, September 5, eastbound buses serve passengers at these stops Monday-to-Friday midday:

  • on Upper Middle Road at Itabashi Drive [west], across from Atkinson Drive and at Itabashi Drive [east].

Westbound buses serve passengers at these stops Monday-to-Friday midday:

  • on Upper Middle Road at Country Club and Atkinson Drives and William O’Connell Boulevard.

Decreasing service along routes


2 Brant North

Friday, August 31 is the last day that Burlington Transit operates buses from each terminal later than about 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Tuesday, September 5, the last southbound bus leaves the Highway 407 / Dundas Park and Ride carpool lot at 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It ends its trip in Burlington GO Station north bus loop at 10:24 p.m.

The last northbound bus leaves Burlington GO Station at 9:27 p.m. It ends its trip in the carpool lot at 9:50 p.m.

BT is also increasing service and decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

3 Guelph - Downtown

Friday, August 31 is the last day that Burlington Transit operates buses from each terminal later than about 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Tuesday, September 5, the last southbound bus leaves the Highway 407 / Dundas Park and Ride carpool lot at 9:04 p.m. Mondays to Fridays. It ends its trip in Burlington GO Station north bus loop at 9:50 p.m.

The last northbound bus leaves Burlington GO Station at 10 p.m. It ends its trip in the carpool lot at 10:47 p.m.

Mondays to Fridays during rush hours, all buses operate along the entire route through downtown Burlington to and from the GO Station. BT no longer diverts some buses at Guelph Line and Queensway Drive to operate directly to the station, before operating downtown.

BT is also increasing service and decreasing the frequency of service along the route.

12 Upper Middle

Burlington Transit is revising the path for buses operating along the route.

Starting Sunday, September 3, eastbound buses no longer serve stops:

  • on Upper Middle Road east of Imperial Way, beside Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School and across from Quinte Street and
  • on Sutton Drive north of Upper Middle Road, at Blue Spruce Avenue, Empire Crescent, across from Dryden Drive and at Sundial Road.

Northbound Burlington Transit buses operating along the 11 Sutton - Alton route continue to serve the stops.

Westbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at a stop

  • on Sutton Drive at Sundial Road.

Northbound Burlington Transit buses operating along the 11 Sutton - Alton route continue to serve the stop.

Friday, August 31 was the last day that eastbound buses dropped off or picked up passengers at stops

  • beside Tansley Woods Community Centre and
  • on Itabashi Way beside #’s 2160 and 2120 Itabashi and at Upper Middle Road.

Burlington Transit buses operating along the 302 Tansley Woods community connection route continue to serve these stops.

It was also the last day that westbound buses serve passengers at stops

  • on Itabashi Way across from #’s 2160 and 2120 Itabashi and
  • beside Tansley Woods Community Centre.

6 Headon

Burlington Transit says that “scheduling [along this route] has been improved for better on-time performance”. However, BT is actually both increasing and decreasing the frequency of service along the route at various times of the week.

Starting Tuesday, September 5, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 30 minutes, instead of every hour, Mondays to Fridays from about 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

BT is also making another change to service along the route.

2 Brant North

Burlington Transit is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours and evenings.

Starting Tuesday, September 5, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 30 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, during rush hours; and
  • every hour, instead of every 30 minutes, after about 8:30 p.m.

BT is also increasing and decreasing service along the route.

3 Guelph - Downtown

Burlington Transit is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours and evenings.

Starting Tuesday, September 5, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 30 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, during rush hours; and
  • every hour, instead of every 30 minutes, after about 8:30 p.m.

BT is also increasing and decreasing service along the route.

6 Headon

Starting Saturday, September 9, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every hour, instead of every 30 minutes, Saturdays.

BT is also making another change to service along the route.

Revising the path for buses operating along a route


12 Upper Middle

Burlington Transit is revising the path for buses operating along the route in three ways.

First, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops in both directions on Appleby Line, instead of northbound buses serving stops on Sutton Drive and Dundas Street.

Starting Sunday, September 3, eastbound buses operate along their usual route to Upper Middle Road and Appleby Line, then proceed:

northward along Appleby; and then
southwestward into the Burlington North Smartcentre property,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops (for this route):

  • on Appleby Line north of Upper Middle Road, at Dryden Drive, across from Taywood Drive and
  • at Burlington North Smartcentre.

Northbound buses operating along the 15A Appleby - Walkers route also serve the stops on Appleby Line.

Eastbound buses no longer serve stops:

  • on Upper Middle Road east of Imperial Way, beside Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School and across from Quinte Street and
  • on Sutton Drive north of Upper Middle Road, at Blue Spruce Avenue, Empire Crescent, across from Dryden Drive and at Sundial Road.

Westbound buses start their trips at Burlington North Smartcentre (Walmart), then proceed:

southward along Appleby Line to Dundas Street,
resuming their usual route southward along Appleby.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a new stop:

  • at Burlington North Smartcentre.

Westbound buses no longer drop off or pick up passengers at a stop

  • on Sutton Drive at Sundial Road.

Northbound Burlington Transit buses operating along the 11 Sutton - Alton route continue to serve the stop.

Second, westbound buses no longer operate along Heron Way through the Millcroft Shopping Centre property. Southbound buses, however, continue to do so.

Third, Burlington Transit no longer operates buses along the 12X branch of the route Monday-to-Friday midday. Starting Tuesday, September 5, buses operate along Upper Middle Road between the east and west legs of Itabashi Way at all times of the week and do not divert along Itabashi Way Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Friday, August 31 was the last day that eastbound buses dropped off or picked up passengers at stops

  • beside Tansley Woods Community Centre and
  • on Itabashi Way beside #’s 2160 and 2120 Itabashi and at Upper Middle Road.

Burlington Transit buses operating along the 302 Tansley Woods community connection route continue to serve these stops.

It was also the last day that westbound buses serve passengers at stops

  • on Itabashi Way across from #’s 2160 and 2120 Itabashi and
  • beside Tansley Woods Community Centre.

Resuming extra service to and from high schools


48 Millcroft

Starting Tuesday, September 5, Burlington Transit resumes service along the route. Buses operate Monday-to-Friday school days and provide extra service for passengers travelling to and from Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School and Dr. Frank J. Hayden Secondary School.
