Special events affecting transit services this weekend take place in Barrie, Brampton, the Bowmanville area of Clarington, Cambridge, the Georgetown area of Halton Hills, Guelph, Kitchener, the Lindsay area of Kawartha Lakes and Waterloo this weekend.

Barrie Farmers Market

Saturday mornings until October 28, the City of Barrie is closing

  • Mulcaster Street between Worseley and Collier Streets

during the weekly market.

Barrie Transit is detouring buses, while the street is closed.

3A Georgian Drive via Cook

From 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, October 14, buses operate along their regular route to Collier and Mulcaster Street, then detour:

eastward along Collier;
northward along Poyntz Street; and then
westward along Worsley Street to Mulcaster,
resuming their regular route northward along Mulcaster.

Buses skip their regular stop

  • on Mulcaster Street north of Collier Street.

Instead, buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Collier Street east of Mulcaster Street.

Bowmanville


Apple Festival and Craft Fair

The Region of Durham and the Municipality of Clarington are closing

  • King Street East Bowmanville (Regional Highway 2) between Scugog and Ontario Streets

Friday evening and Saturday morning and afternoon to accommodate the Historic Downtown Bowmanville Business Improvement Area’s annual fall festival.

Durham Region Transit and GO Transit are detouring buses while the street is closed.

Until 7 p.m. Saturday, October 14, buses operate along their regular route to Church and Temperance Streets, then detour:

eastward along Church; and then
southward along Liberty Streets North to King Street East,

  • on King Street East east of Division Street, at Ontario Street and Liberty Street South.

From 7 p.m. Friday, October 13 until 6 p.m. Saturday October 14, westbound buses operate along their regular route to King Street East and Liberty Street, then detour:

southward along Liberty South;
westward along Baseline Road;
northward along Waverly Road South; and then
east- and northward along Roenigk Drive to King Street West,
resuming their regular route westward along King West.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on King Street East west of Liberty Street North and George Street and at Temperance Street South and
  • on King Street West at Scugog Street North.

Eastbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Brampton events affecting transit services this weekend include: the Downtown Brampton Harvest Market (October 14); and the Sri Guru Sangat Parade (October 15).


Downtown Brampton Harvest Market

Saturday mornings and early afternoons until November 4, the City of Brampton is closing

  • Main Street North between Nelson and Queen Streets

to accommodate the weekly market, starting today.

Brampton Transit is detouring service while the street is closed.

2 Main

From 5:45 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, October 14, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Nelson Street, then detour:

westward along Nelson Street West, passing, but not stopping at, the Downtown Transit Terminal,
southward along George Streets North and South; and then
eastward along Wellington Street West to Main South,
resuming their regular route southward along Main.

Southbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Main Street North at Queen Street West and
  • on Main Street South at Wellington Street West.

Northbound buses reverse the detour routing.

ending their trips.

Northbound buses start their trips on George Street North across from Diplock Lane, then proceed:

southward along George North;
westward along Queen Street West;
northward along Mill Street North; and then
eastward along Nelson Street West to George North,
resuming their regular route eastward along Nelson West.

24 Van Kirk The event may delay traffic on Van Kirk Drive between Sandalwood Parkway West and Bovaird Drive West and Brampton Transit buses operating along the 24 Van Kirk route from 12:30 until 4 p.m. Sunday, October 15.

Georgetown Farmers Market

The Town of Halton Hills is closing

  • Main Street South Georgetown between James and Church Streets

to accommodate the Georgetown Central Business Improvement Area’s weekly market.

GO Transit is detouring service while the street is closed.

31 Guelph / Georgetown / Toronto bus

From 6:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, October 14, eastbound buses from Guelph operate along their regular route to Main and Guelph Streets (Provincial Highway 7) and then proceed:

southeastward along Guelph to Mill Street,
resuming their regular route southwestward along Guelph.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Main Street South across from Cross Street and at James Street and
  • on Mill Street at Guelph Street.

Westbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Mill Street south of Guelph Street and
  • on Main Street South across from James Street and at Cross Street.

Buses that usually start or end their trips at Georgetown operate to and from the Georgetown GO Station, instead of Main Street South and James Street, and do not travel through downtown Georgetown. The buses leave the GO station at the same time as usual, according to their regular schedule.

This is the last market of the year.

You can ride any Guelph Transit bus for just $1 to the Guelph Storm game against the Niagara Ice Dogs at 7:30 p.m. — if you have a valid ticket to the game. You can ride for $1 of fare to and from the Sleeman Centre after 5 p.m. by simply showing the Guelph Transit driver your game ticket.

All Hamilton Street Railway routes

You can ride any HSR bus free of fare to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats game against the Calgary Stampeders, Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m. — if you hold a valid ticket to the game.

With the HSR’s Ticket to Ride program, you can ride free of fare to Tim Horton’s Field for as much as two hours before game time and free of fare from the stadium until the end of service.

2 Barton

Buses serve all local stops between the Hamilton GO Centre, downtown Hamilton and Barton Street East at Lenister Avenue North — just one block north of Tim Hortons Field.

3 Cannon

Buses serve all local stops between the Hamilton GO Centre, downtown Hamilton and Cannon Street East at Balsam Avenue North — just south of Tim Hortons Field.

Tiger-Cats Express shuttles

From about 5 until 7 p.m., Friday, October 13, free HSR shuttle buses also speedily transport ticket-holders from four terminals across the city to the stadium. After the game is over, they’ll shuttle you back again. You can view the schedule for Friday’s shuttle service here
