Rapidway on Highway 7 West:
YRT detour during paving, October 20 to 23



Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue building a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Highway 7 West from west of Jane Street to east of Keele Street.


From 7 p.m. Friday, October 20 until 6 a.m. Monday, October 23, the Region and the City of Vaughan are closing:

  • Highway 7 West between Edgeley Boulevard / Interchange Way and Jane Street,

while the contractors pave the roadway.

York Region Transit is detouring buses operating along this route, while the highway is closed:

  • 77 Highway 7.

77 Highway 7

From 7 p.m. Friday, October 20 until 6 a.m. Monday, October 23, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Highway 7 and Edgeley Boulevard / Interchange Way, then detour:

northward along Edgeley;
eastward along Portage Parkway; and then
southward along Jane Street to Highway 7,
resuming their regular route eastward along Highway 7.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Highway 7 at Interchange Way and Jane Street.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Edgeley Boulevard north of Highway 7, at Applemill Road and Portage Parkway and
  • on Portage Parkway across from Buttermill Avenue and at Jane Street.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Highway 7 at Edgeley Boulevard.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Portage Parkway west of Jane Street and at Buttermill Avenue and
  • on Edgeley Boulevard south of Portage Parkway, across from Applemill Road and at Highway 7.
